This is my version of Rodger's Hurricane knife. He was kind enough to allow me to copy it so don't hold it against him! :o

I wanted something that could be carried easily, was flat and had a very dull point in case I fell out of a tree.

This is all of the above. It has a 1075 blade made from a hacksaw blade with the edge still in M2.

Man did it take an edge.....

It has a convex grind and is wide enough to dig with. I think that's important for a survival knife.

The handle is home stabilized Walnut and as usual for me, the picture is not good enough to really show the grain.

Comments please (and yes I know I swiped thee grind line when I sharpened it) :o

It would still hurt to fall on it Don. I think the one you did with the completely round blade was definately a better tree faller outer knife. Nice hunka wood :)

Don,

You can jack a truck up with that blade :) . Looks good to me. At first I wondered why the narrow bevel but then I remembered you saying you wanted one stout for prying and such.

What's the dimensions (thickness and lengths)?

The bevel is actually a little higher than that Rodger. It is just bead blasted. The polished part is my final sharpening and I think I had the shakes.

Something about that knife is very appealing to me!Ok...How much

I don't know....Rodger will have to give you a price...he should jump in soon.

James,

Don asked me to reply. Don is quite welcome make and sell all he wants but has aked me to instead give you an opportunty to have me make you one. If you are interested you can email me and I will send you pictures and a price.

James, just a followup to Rodgers post. I don't consider myself a good enough knife smith to sell knives. I just make them to use and because I want something in particular.

The basic design is also Rodgers to use. I asked for and he gave me permission to make a slightly different version for my personal use. There isn't anything legal in this, just common courtesy and good manners.

Rodger is also an excellent maker. Any knife you have him create for you will be way ahead in craftsmanship to one I made.

Well now that was a very nice compliment Don gave me. In being honest though I will take a small exception to that kindness afforded me. In truth I continue to view Don as one of my tutors. He was making knives long before I and has been a great help to me over these past couple/three years. I am not yet the maker he is (but aspire to be :) ).
