It's too bad Timberline discontinued the campact knife. I use all the time and take comfort knowing a have some backup in the little handle.

The saw on the Randall scales my fish pretty good, and is large enough to cut sticks and branches to cook my crappie and blue gill. That hollow handle is allot tougher than most people think. Remember it is not in competition with a Bussee.:D

All in all, a SAK and a HI khukuri is what I use most of the time.

Those Timberlines were really well thought out survival knives. I handled the smaller Backpacker model and one of the larger ones, very cool.

That a pretty good idea! I like the compact alot. Thanks for the pics.

Hey Sams
Very nice knives, your Randall#18 is set up very much like mine with 550 para cord around the grip mine like yours for you has served me well in the field and done every thing I would ask of a knife with out fail. Thanks for posting your pic's always enjoy looking at great steel:thumbup:

Good looking gear, especially the Randall. I like how knives look after much good use. The wear of time gives it a classic look. And that's something I believe you can't replace in a knife. At least your using them. Keep using them.

Just FYI, but folks can still obtain the compact knife from either Bill Sanders or Vaughn Neeley, the two remaining original Timberline founders. They both live in the Durango, CO area and are remarkable gentlemen.
