The Robert Conrad movie of the ship wreck stranding himself, son, and two daughters in Alaska. Mears discusses this story in one of his Artic series. My Side of the Mountain, The Hatchet, Escape from Wildcat Canyon, Alive all have their good points. There was an old movie with Sally Strothers in which she and a pilot were stranded in the northern wilderness for several weeks. Had a lot of religion in it, but I would like to see it again. I believe it was based on a true event. Dick Proeneke's documentaries are among the best. The Canadian reality series Pioneer Quest is really good. Unfortunately not available on VHS or DVD. The movie/docudrama starring Charles Martin Smith living in the wilderness to study wolves is great entertainment. Once again, based on true events.
For the Pioneer Quest show, you should check out their website.
