So finally getting around to getting these worked up. Went to the All Good Festival a few weeks ago and it presented a different type of survival;)

The first obstacle was a miles long 3 and a half hour wait in a huge traffic jam to get into the place. We prepared by having plenty of gas and our truck well maintained as we saw many run out of gas waiting or overheating. Overall though the jam was festive

Sadly we got set up right as it got dark and headed to the stage to catch a few bands. No pics from night but the next morning we woke up to many neighbors. They said between 20 and 25 thousand.

We camped about a mile from the stage on a knob and we could see the fog in the morning like an ocean as we looked off Cheat Mt.

The main survival obstacle at this fest was staying up and keeping hydrated. They had 2 stages. The music started at about noon or 2 and went on continuously till daylight. As soon as one band was finished on one stage another would start on the next. So notice the hydration packs everywhere. I think I saw every model of camelbak they make!

There were no zombies or other threats (except for a few zombied people but they were friendly) but there were a few aliens but they got right into the thing:

Here's a short vid. I thought Aliens melted but these danced in the hot sun for hours:

After 3 days of mayhem and merriment it was time to leave. It rained and we drove in the dark and set up the tent in the dark. Somehow
the next day we found ourselves about 25 yards from the truck camping on the bank of Red Creek in Dolly Sods.

We were a little tired and but we had coffee and a little additive

It seemed to have the desired effect on Ms HD

Had a few hours to kill before the drive home so hiked up Red Creek. The rain had cleared.

Came to this neat little swimming hole

Good thing about a belt clip on a sheath is you can take it off when you get in the creek

I took my camera, waded in and made this little vid to share the scene with you

The End

great stuff HD...:D:thumbup: i love it.. i wish i was there... strawberry is coming up soon and that traffic jam is all too familiar.. we usually make breakfast and coffee while we're in line...

that line up is amazing.. there are some great bands there..
· Grace Potter & The Nocturnals · Hot Buttered Rum · Railroad Earth · Michael Franti & Spearhead, are all some of our favorite's...:)

HD--another question.. do you wear your fixed while you're at the concert...

i might have to look into some of those coffee shots..

Mike.

I think Grace Potter may be one of the top 10 female rockers of all time. She was one of the hilights.

Also Derek Trucks must be a very secure man to marry a woman that can play guitar as good as he can and belt it out too:thumbup:

Have you ever listened to the Wood Bros? Chris Wood of MMW and his older Brother? They were also among my top pics.

I didnt' think much of the Avett Brothers. I have some pals that love them.

Seen Patti Griffin several times and she's great and I've seen Sam Bush multiple times both Solo and with the New Grass Revival.

Wonder if the Knitters are the same ones I have an album of? Jon Doe and Exene Cervanka formerly of the punk band X??

Missy Raines is one of the most killer bass players around. Seen her solo and back in the 80's when she was in Eddie and Marth Adcocks band.

we have also seen patti griffin and sam bush several times.. both put on amazing shows..

Thanks for sharing the nice pics. Holly and I just saw phil and Friends in Rochester on the 12th. Was a great show. We took the kids and a goofy bunch of 12 to The Gathering of The Vibes Last year and I had the same kinda hydration/wait in lines survival issues : )
Derek Truks has been in near Buffalo a few times and he was a rockin', Gov't Mule too and they were great. Dark Star Orchestra opened for Bob Weir a bit ago and they were tight. Next month we have the Allmans at Canandaigua( a finger lake ), the kids are coming(13 and 18), the great part is that our youngest,Val, works with me when in the shop, and when it's time to change the music I ask her what she wants to hear and she says,"The Allmans, the one with Dickie Betts!"...lol...she cracks me up...

Be Well

Medeski Scofield Martin & Wood. Only guys I know on the list but they are great! So where did you find the shots, HD? And what is the fixed blade you had with you?

Nice line up! And photos!

I usually carry a fixed blade on my belt at shows, but I get bored to tears these days if i'm not working at a show, so I'm always staff and no one notices anything but the kilt anyhow.

Looks like you had a really good time.

The sad, sad, sad thing about all of this? I don't think I've heard of one of the groups you mentioned.

I so need to get out more...
