Survival Quiz

85%

Stone knives, sharks, and mushrooms.

I kind of disagree with their belief that you should avoid all mushrooms.

Personally, I think it's safe to eat mushrooms -if you know how to ID them, I routinely forage mushrooms while I'm out in the woods, lost I'd still do the same. But I also know that their nutritional value is damn low and they can be difficult to digest so form a survival standpoint they may ultimately be right.

I survived the test but... some of the questions were a bit...off. Like the mushroom question above. There are plenty of mushrooms I KNOW I can eat. And the % of water question. Look at how it is worded. Plenty of people die without any water weight loss at all. It does not mention death by dehydration. The snake question? Avoid them by turning over rocks and stones with a stick? I've eaten adult bugs that sting or bite. You have to know which ones and how to prepare them. And no, I don't worry a hale of a lot about the different species of sharks. Well, other than the land sharks (lawyers).

Maybe DOC or someone needs to make up a quiz for us here. Be an interesting poll!

I hate that test. I always get the same two wrong, the water percentage question and the shark question. They seem like silly questions to me.

Should I not be worried if a mako is circling me, because it's not on the top four list of man eaters? I think I'll just avoid all sharks, thank you.

Should I construct a rudimentary scale, weigh myself and calculate how close I am to death by dehydration? Or maybe I'll just keep looking for water instead.

I wonder if its really necessary in a survival situation to know how many % of water is loss. Just remember that you have to drink...

Got 90%, so I gess I'm not doing too bad. The only problem is, IMO, this test concentrates in survival trivia instead of practical survival knowledge. Only a few questions in this test have information that will actually help you survive.

Please don't take tests like this serious. There are at least half a dozen test like this on various web sights, and they are all very speculative.
The "universal food test" was drooped long ago by knowledgeable authority's. Some plant toxins have no burning, bad taste or warning of any kind until they enter your system. Other plant toxins take time to build up in your system to a toxic level.
If you want to read of a horribly death, read up on how certain mushroom enzymes cause your internal organs to emulsify. Nasty stuff.
And no you don't have to be a mushroom expert, You just have to 100% identify the mushrooms your dealing with.

90%, but I guessed on a lot of them. Some of the questions were just plain wonky or not particularly useful. Maybe we should make our own quiz?

95%,some were guessed. But that is theory.Yesterday the beginner female speleologist was rescued after two nights in mountain. She wore plastic sandals,t-shirt and shorts, wit only 0,5 l of water,no other equipment-she lost her group, and yet she made it.I think theory is OK,but the most is in one`s head

I completely agree with you , this test is definitely a bit off. Too many circumstances could change the answers.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but you and a lot more people on this forum have spent more time 'in the dirt' than I have. Maybe you should do one.
