What are the things you look for in a survival school? Anyone have any opinions on Tom Brown's Tracker School, or any of the others you've attended?

Hi Michael,

this is always a question that should be answered before attending any school....

The first thing I would ask is how much training has the cadre staff had... not how many years the school has existed.... many schools are ran by people with limited experience but since they have been around for a long time are considered reputable....

Be sceptical....

For particular openions (mine only) about other schools... please email me directly... I will not post these on the forum.

Good luck in your search,

So Greg doesn't want to express his opinions here, huh? Greg, it's not like you to withhold an opinion!

Well, I'll express mine. I HIGHLY recommend Greg's course. I learned a great deal during a week with Greg despite having more experience than the average person. If you'll check his web site - http://www.ssurvival.com - he has some of my opinions published there.

BOSS is a great physical challenge. Glad I did it. But you'll learn more SKILLS in one week with Greg than you will in two weeks of BOSS.

(Side note to anyone who may have attended BYU's course before BYU dropped these courses and BOSS picked them up: BOSS doesn't have the same "feel" as BYU. Hard to explain. Point of reference: although I am a Mormon now, I wasn't when I took the BYU course.)

Bill, thanks for the nice comments....

I know you are having trouble believing that this loud mouthed and openionated guy (me) was able to keep his mouth shut on such a subject.... I guess I am getting old.

We'd love to have anyone from this forum join us in our July trip... However, you'll need to register soon if you intend to come...

I'd like to add that we have one slot left for our 8 day June 17th trip. Everything else is full.

We will be exploring some wild country.
