search "Best Survival Movies" on this forum. There are many listed by the readers of this forum.

Just go to http://www.dsc.discovery.com and look for the tv show schedules for man vs. wild and survivorman. Man vs. Wild is my personal favorite, it is about the host, bear grylls, who is dropped into different remote locations each episode, and has to survive while making his way back to civilization with only his KNIFE, a flint, and a water bottle. This show is very useful and enjoyable to watch. Now as for survivorman, it is about the host who is completely alone with his own portable cameras and has to stay put for a week and build stuff like a real shelter and set a few traps and stuff like that, not as exciting and fast paced like man vs. wild, but maybe a bit more realistic if you are injured and can't roam around very far. Both shows are awsome and fun to watch. The showtimes and dates can be found at the discovery website listed above. Hope this helps, J.

Only when he doesn't go back to the lodge or hotel for the night, notice the disclaimer on the current showings, the narrating "I'm not staying the night here, but will show you how to....."

Bear was like my outdoor hero until I heard about all of that hotel stuff a couple of months back, but I still like learning a little from the show. Though it's not quite the same now that I know he's actually hunkering down after a fresh shower everynight in a fancy hotel.....Everest my ass!!! He was probably flown down everynight that's how he made it up there, and I bet even the British SAS are ashamed to hear that he can't even sleep a few days out in the wild!

The only movies I've seen would be 'Hatchet' and that Tom Brown 'Hunted' one. I know a few interesting tv series exist such as 'Survivorman' and that one with Bear Grylls.

Fiction - i second jerimiah johnson. Another one not really survival based but lots of knife action i would recommend Seriphim falls, it shows just how tough it would be to live in the old days.

non fiction - woodsmaster series (Ron Hood) and grab survivorman season 1

I allways liked heaven knows Mr.Allison with Robert Mitchum & Debra Karr WWII Marine raider stranded Japaneese held Island with just a USMC ka-bar

Movie Synopsis

A two-person character study directed by John Huston, Heaven Knows Mr. Allison stars Robert Mitchum as a World War II Marine sergeant and Deborah Kerr as a Roman Catholic nun. Both nun and sergeant are marooned on a South Pacific island, hemmed in by surrounding Japanese troops. Mitchum does his best to make the nun's ordeal less painful, but is torn by his growing love for her. Kerr is equally fond of Mitchum, but refuses to renounce her vows. Their unrealized ardor mellows into mutual respect as they struggle to survive before help arrives. Based on a novel by Charles K. Shaw, Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison was coproduced by Eugene Frenke, who later filmed a low-budget variation on the story, The Nun and the Sergeant (62), which starred Frenke's wife Anna Sten.

Seraphim Falls was awesome. Probably the best movie I've seen where one relies on his knife. Plus Muella offers one just like it I believe. Sweet stag handled bowie.
