SURVIVE! Bushcraft Knife (GSO-4.5?)

Nice looking blade, although I prefer something around 8.5 as a Bushcrafter
What I'm waiting for is the SK Sword. When Guy is seen playing w/ a sword in the woods you know he' s thinking.

This thing is gonna be a trout filleting, kitchen patrol, slicing beast. If it goes into starter mode I will definitely be throwing it on the old card.

This certainly isn't one of my log baton splitting designs but I believe it will excel at many other tasks.

A nice thin slicer made from premium 3V is exciting to see. The way I look at it, this gives me a CHOICE. If I want a blade to baton with I'll happily grab something else from the GSO line, but the 4.5 should cut like a laser and still be tough

Is this replacing the SCANDI? Or is that still a possibility?

I see this as the production model but I will produce a few scandi versions as I have time. Even not being a scandi, with this thin blade and tiny little edge I plan on putting on this model, it will perform very well. The saber grind angle is right around 10 degrees of included angle, so it will slip through material very efficiently.

any chance of having something like this a bit longer? say 6 inches but thin, say .125ish(still plenty thick to be super durable if not used for heavy prying)
It would be a great all around knife that would be very useful for food, skinning, meat prep and utility work around the camp as well. the thicker blades just don't seem as practical and to get thinner and still have a durable knife you have to settle for a small blade.
just a thought

I hear you. They aren't exactly "outdoor" knives but I am brainstorming some kitchen knives, a few of which should be able to fill the roles you're describing. While they'll be labeled a "kitchen" knife, they'll still be durable enough to handle some camp chores as well as skinning and food prep tasks.

Now those I would love have some input on :D

With so many other irons in the fire right now those are still a bit down the road. I'll keep you in mind for sure. Once I have some samples finished up I plan to get them out in to some professional hands. I know sending you some wouldn't be a wasted effort. ;)

I can't wait for this! The knives I use the most are kitchen knives, and they are fine, but I'd love to swap in some GSO kitchen Steel!!

Think about sending a few to Chris Tanner at Preparedmind 101. Good channel and has many many loyal viewers. He mentions in one of his vids about wanting a 5.1. Definitely will help spread the Survive cheer. He can be a fanboy but also gives a straight forward review.

Man S! In the woods, in the kitchen and at the grill!

He can show us how well the 5.1 sword cuts through carpet in the outdoors.

I totally hear ya! Glad to know they're on the radar! Thanks for the kind words, I'd love to help in any way that I can when the time comes.
