I'm looking into a great utility/bushcraft knife and after doing my research I have zeroed in on the Survive GSO 4.1 and the Guardian 4. Is there anyone out there that has both and could give me your opinion on the two? The steel for the GSO would be CPM 3v and the steel for the Guardian would be M390 Nimbus. I'm only posting this because I'm concerned about the ergonomics with the Guardian 4. Are there hot spots after heavy use without gloves? Basically I want the knife to last forever no matter what I put it through without killing my hands.

Thanks in advance!

I own a GSO 4.1 and find to to be an excellent outdoors and all around blade. The Bradford looks like it would not be comfortable for making figure 4 traps, batoning, or many other bushcraft uses. I recently read that the designer wanted the Guardian to be a fixed blade alt. to an EDC folder. IMHO these 2 knives are very different, and from the 2 that you list and the tasks you wish to complete, I'd go with the GSO

Both are great knives but I'll give a nod on the gso 4.1. While the guardian 4's handle is comfortable on regular grip, it isn't comfortable if your doing chest lever pulls and the lack for ricasso to protect your finger is a concern.

Thanks for confirming my thoughts on the Guardian. I really like the GSO lineup. I might just get the Guardian 3 for an edc utility knife as I think it will function great for that. As for bushcraft, I will go with the GSO. Thanks again!

There's also a GSO 4.5 Bushcrafter coming available some time in the future FYI

I've owned four GSO models. Love every one of them. And, for rough stuff, stay with the 3v...much tougher steel, although the M390 will hold its edge a bit longer.
