Finally, someone who makes sense! Don't tell Cipriano, Tex or redwood that you like the handle. They all said "the handle of the GSO 5 is like gripping a 2x4 except more square. The only thing more boxy than the handle of the 5 is an actual box"
Guy really makes you work to find the flaws in the seconds, it's kind of a fun game. But remember, Ellie said they did toss some factory firsts in at the second price just to get rid of them.
I'm super jealous. I will order a GSO with natural micarta and a coyote sheath at some point. It has really grown on me.
Can we get an updated family photo?
Also, my heart skips when I see this thread title pop up thinking they found more 5's to sell! Enjoy your 5!!!!!
I have to say that I was just on the S! website drooling over the apparent ergos of the next gen 5.1. With two in the collection already, I think I might have to get the next generation as well. I am fortunate enough to have rarely sold a knife. Even if the next gen 5.1 displaces my current one in every day use, I will not give up my original numbered 5.1. That is unless somebody wants to trade a GSO 12 straight up for it.
The family has not changed too much. The 5 is the latest addition. I will likely update a family portrait once the next gen 4.1 arrives. I was planning a comparison to the original any way. I am down a jimpless 4.1 that I gifted to a colleague a while back in 3V, which is another reason I ordered the next gen in 3V. I prefer GSO knives with jimping for my applications. I had picked up the jimpless version because it was available, but gifted it because I determined that the jimping was something that I did want on this knife.
Last thought is that the next gen models should come out much faster because Guy does not have to obsess over getting the screw heads aligned perfectly. But, he might try to align the torx heads perfectly, then my theory goes out the window.
