I just received my long-anticipated Survive! Knives GSO-8, and I’m pretty blown away. I already have a GSO-4.5 (Bushcraft) which I love, but the awesomeness of an 8 inch perfectly made Survive! is truly something to behold.

I chose 3V and black G-10 for this knife, and it came out just beautifully. I almost chose a Cerakote for this blade, but I’m glad that I didn’t now.

Obviously, I haven’t used the knife yet, but I expect that it will be my go-to outdoors large blade. I did do a few paper cut tests, and it’s a razor out of the box. It’s almost too pretty to use, but use it I must. It’s very cold and rainy here today, so I can’t play with my new toy just yet.

Rather than give a detailed overview of the knife, I’m happy to answer any questions, as I don’t think that there are too many of these out there. And I’d rather wait to review it until I’ve actually used it. But let me say, that it seems like it might be a perfect 1-option knife for me.

I’ve read some negatives about them. But I’ve purchased two knives so far, and they are just killer tools. I knew that I’d be waiting for a long time when I ordered them, and I won’t say anything about them as a company, but in terms of the actual knives, they’re perfect. I mean, this GSO-8 flat out blows away my Tops and Bark Rivers. If you’ve never handled one, they really are that good.

Yup, the typical "they've done nothing to me" defense. They have f'd over a good number of people on this forum, however. So you knew the history, and STILL supported them? :rolleyes:

The company SUCKS. Good knives do not trump immorality and unethical business practices. It figures you would also mention BRK. Same shit, different pile.

The sooner some of you people stop supporting this kind of crap, the better off this hobby will be.

My wait time was about 60 days for the GSO 4.5 and 10 months for the GSO-8. I expected about both of those wait times when I asked about them when placing the order. Honestly, I’m sorry that people have had so many issues with them, but I have two excellent knives that will last the rest of my life. I also have a GSO 5.1 on order, and I’m sure it will be just as good as these two.

Again, I can understand hating the company, but the knives are as good as it gets. What am I supposed to do - throw them in the trash?

I didn't have that much of an issue with you or your post, until you stated you knew the history and chose to support their crap anyway.

I've said it before - some of you people would have supported Hitler if he was also a good bladesmith. :rolleyes:

Uh - look at my limited posts on this forum. They have nothing to do with Survive. Mostly about Demko and Cold Steel. Some Spyderco as well. I honestly just got this in the mail today, and I really like it. It’s as simple as that.

I mean, if you think that I just went through the trouble of creating a fake invoice for this thread, come on.

I wasn’t trying to make this about the company at all. And I had no idea that there was THIS much hate directed towards them. I just like my new knife. Sheesh.

Lol - that’s funny about the Boss Hogg thing. But go look at my old posts, and see if there’s anything suggesting that I’m some shill for Survive. I don’t think I’ve ever said a word about them before.

That said, I really didn’t make this thread to argue about the company. If everyone hates them so much, I’ll just let it be. But it won’t stop me from liking my knives.
 
They aren't well liked in the community, you claim to know this and yet act surprised when folks call you out for supporting those jerks?

Glad you like your new knife, next time perhaps vet the folks you support with your business a little more.
