Survive moderator

I think Silver Needle is a fantastic guy but I like him too much to wish this unpaid job on him for no reward. I don't always agree with him but even when I don't we can still walk away from a disagreement like adults.

Personally I'd dodge this opportunity like the plague if I were Silver.
Who the hell would want to deal with mouthy blowhards like First Alchemy and Knife Chop?

Wow! What a thread. Thanks to all for the kind words and confidence in me. At the current time I really wouldn't know where to start. I think someone actually from SURVIVE! would need to step in as they're the ones with real answers for all this. A year ago or maybe a year from now when business is back to usual I'd be all for anything that would keep things moving smoothly here and freeing up time for Ellie to be doing real shop stuff.

I'm new here, but FWIS, it seems like rational, thoughtful responses like this is exactly what has brought most to the consensus that you should be a S! mod.

So, if you really don't want the job, you'd better start getting more irrational and nasty. ;)

I nominate Silverneedle
He deserves it !
No doubt about it. However, with all of the crud circulating from a toxic minority, I'd actually like to see a conglomerate of mods. This would take the pressure off of a single person and preserve anonymity of a mod who needed to step in and take care of business. Spread the responsibility, and allow the mod(s) who serve this community to maintain plausible deniability.

With full support of Silver as the logical choice, having a team of people (of which Guy and Ellie could endorse and even participate) would keep the man from backlash.

This is wisdom.

I don't know how many cooks in the kitchen we'd want or need in a subforum this size with the amount of traffic we get. There's no way I'd want sole responsibility, but if Ellie and/or Guy were around when absolutely needed that would be more legitimate moderating.

We know they need to have someone from the company involved, but Ellie definitely doesn't need more on her plate.

Especially since she was out sick last week... hence no moderator :(

To Guy and Ellie, I support Silver as a reasonable choice, if you decide to go that route.

You should have someone from the company, an insider like Ellie, as a moderator. You can also have a company representative to keep up with day to day discussions.

Esav, did you get an answer back from S!K about Ellie being sick last week? At least that is what was posted on Instagram... Your efforts in the absence of a S!K-specific moderator are appreciated.

For the tiny little bit that my opinion is worth, I would hate for Ellie to navigate this stuff. I'd much rather see her on the floor with Guy finishing orders. Jordyn.. it's not a totally hostile environment. :D It can't be worse than dealing with customer emails.

Silver needle is obviously a nice guy. Too nice for the job, IMO.
I have walked through this forum & irritated a few people, including SN. It was Standard 78 who stood up & defended him. I vote Standard78 for mod.

I appreciate the vote of confidence bud, but I'd be the wrong choice without a doubt.
I have concerns like many other folks here so I'm only a spectator until someone from the company comes here and lays it all out for everyone, or if the tides turn and knives start shipping out by their expected delivery dates.

I'm new here, but from the threads I've been following on SURVIVE! I'd say Silver Needle seems pretty level headed and like the right person for the job. +1
