Survive! Sheaths and standard attachments that fit them

Holy crap Silver! That drop loop and red sheath are badass!!
Killer job there Halestorm!
Halestorm is the man!

Red carbon fiber....very cool. I like the contrast.

I'll bet it would look great with black g10, too.
Black g10? You read my mind! I need a new pic with the handle freshly oiled, but still, black g10 is on my wishlist as well as that clean looking, light shaded natural micarta.

This post aims more to the "sheath" part of the thread title rather than the attachment portion.

The FDE sheath was a seriously cool and very generous gift from Casinostocks

Sexy sheath from a sexy dude.

Thanks sexy, keep that up and I may have a CSO-5 to go with that.... :D

This post is WAY overdue, but here is one of my favorite ways to carry my 4.7. Halestorm made me a really nice drop loop. The nylon is super sturdy, but has just as much give as I'd like. The kydex part and the hardware are all upgrades from the standard sheath material. The kydex is thicker and the hardware is stainless and heavy duty. This is a bombproof accessory!!!!!

It is comfortable wearing a knife the size of the 4.7 in any situation: standing, sitting, moving, working. If I get a chance this afternoon I'll do some ninja rolls in my backyard and report back. I expect my 4.7 still to carry well in that or any situation with this attachment.

In the same transaction, I ordered this guy. I've had a recent interest in carbon fiber and I love the look of blood red, especially blood red with charcoal gray or black. Halestorm special ordered me the blood red carbon fiber and crafted my first taco style sheath. The retention is very solid. He made sure the eyelets were spaced 3/4 inch on center, so my Chiral UKE fits perfectly. I love wearing this sheath with the UKE.

Thank you, Halestorm, for the great products

Thank you Silver and you guys who made the great comments and compliments (the guys I consider my friends here). I'm humbled by the praise. Really.

HK that looks like an ideal setup to me. Very nice.

Standard lately I've been wearing mine on the left and wearing my pistol on my right. When my 3.5 comes I want to look at a crossdraw sheath.

I did the exact same thing when I was in the woods and carrying a pistol. Then I made a crossdraw holster because I used the knife all the time and rarely drew my pistol. Now it's S!K on the right and pistol in the crossdraw and on the left.

I've been meaning to post this here and now that Silver Needle graciously posted a few of my sheaths I thought I should put these up too. I posted them in another spot but this thread is really about standard attachments to the Survive!Knives sheaths. Here's what I came up with to fit the standard sheaths. This one is a 1/4" fire steel but I can make them any size up to 1/2" in diameter.

I rarely ever go anywhere with a knife on that I can't make fire.

I only use heavy duty .080 or thicker kydex. Marine grade UV and chemical resistant 1/4" bungee cord. All black oxide steel and black oxide stainless steel hardware. All U.S.A. made components.

$20.00 each in any color.

One of the perks of being a fan of one gso model [ 5.1 in this case] is the variety of sheath options you can build up over time. Still need[?] want a few more danglers/ferro rod holders and maybe a pouch or two but all things come in trade eventually.

VERY NICE, Psybull! Thanks for sharing :D

The rig with the ceramic rod, fire steel and Leatherman is my favorite.

1. Where did you get the ceramic rod?

B. What type of Leatherman is in the pouch?

4. Have you ever weighed it?

Silver, I have traded so often I honestly don't remember who made the ceramic rod.
The Leatherman is a charge al w/ bit set and a Swedish light my fire ferro rod and striker.
I have not weighed it but it is definitely on the heavy side. It is the one for when shtf for sure.

Man, I really like the ceramic rod idea. I'm going to look into building one to match the ferro rod and loop that I currently offer for the Survive!Knives sheaths. The ceramic rod would fit perfectly on the other side of the seath. Then you have it all in one package. Fire and sharpening. I've got some old antlers all over the garage but I'll probably start with my kydex handle like the ferro rod first. I've used the antler style for my personal ferro rods on my sheaths for my hunting rigs. I'm looking up the ceramic rods right now. :D

Bumping this thread for discussion on firesteel loops and maybe other attachment ideas.

I like the style where the firesteel has a topper of kydex with a bungee that matches the kydex of the holder. With a 1/2 inch firesteel :D

Looks like you've got an option in the big steels with Ronnie (different thread). I saw you've got an exotac, too. I like the small exotacs as well, but if you're looking at big steels, you might try firesteels.com or goinggear sometime just for your own point of reference. I don't have any in 1/2" and IIRC they're fairly spendy. I'll bet they throw a heck of a shower of spark though.

Are you looking to add a 1/2" steel to your sheath? They're pretty big and heavy, might go better in a pack.

Here's the one I made on order, but like HK wrote, DANG is it ever heavy, think I'll stick with the 5/16 ;):

1/2" x 4"? can't quite remember, was not my firesteel. Kydex head, the middle hole goes through the rod itself and can have a bit of cord laced through for added security. The head is just glued in place, and there is a decent amount of space in the top under the rubber "cap" that has the cord in it. That cord should not be used to hold the rod in place as it is only connected to the silicon cap, a place to store tinder:

I cannot recall what I charged for the work, but the kydex is cheap and the holders are super easy to make, the head was the trick part since it's shaped and only half-attached to the rod.

Yeah, I'm sure it is overkill :D

In some aspects I like to go big or go home. Maybe theposter firesteel would be more at home strapped to the GSO 12 sheath!

Thanks, Chiral for the pics and info. My life would be so much easier without all these great options..... but what fun would that be?!

Lol. Far be it from me to dissuade you from your quest!! I will however request pictures :D
