Survived Black Friday for WSS......

My wife goes with my daughter and stepdaughters. When any trouble starts my daughter casually pulls back her coat a little and exposes her badge on her belt. It really seems to calm the heifers down! Of course if she pulled back the other side of her coat, they would be looking at her off duty piece.

hahahahaha love it.

That Commander is nice. I've shot my grandpa's enough to make me want one of my own. Too bad there are no gun store deals for Black Friday.

Sorry about your Black Friday 'Ol Bud . Thats some nice gear & awsome combo, nothing like a .45 & a sharp knife !

Wal-Mart worker dies after shoppers knock him down
By COLLEEN LONG, Associated Press Writer Colleen Long, Associated Press Writer 1 hr 41 mins ago

NEW YORK – A worker was killed in the crush Friday after a throng of shoppers eager for post-Thanksgiving bargains burst through the doors at a suburban Wal-Mart, authorities said.

At least four other people were injured, and the store in Valley Stream on Long Island was closed.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. in Bentonville, Ark., called the incident a "tragic situation" and said the employee came from a temporary agency and was doing maintenance work at the store.

"He was bum-rushed by 200 people," co-worker Jimmy Overby, 43, told the Daily News. "They took the doors off the hinges. He was trampled and killed in front of me. They took me down too. ... I literally had to fight people off my back."

Nassau County police said the 34-year-old worker was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at about 6 a.m. The man's name was not released and the cause of death was not immediately known.

A police statement said shortly after the store's 5 a.m. opening time, shoppers "physically broke down the doors, knocking (the worker) to the ground."

A metal portion of the door was crumpled like an accordion.

Shoppers around the country lined up early outside stores in the annual bargain hunting ritual known as Black Friday. Many stores open early and stay open late, and some of the most dramatic bargains are available in limited quantities.

Among the bargains offered by Wal-Mart for Friday were Samsung 50-inch high definition Plasma TVs for less than $800.

Witnesses told the Daily News that before the store was closed, eager shoppers streamed past emergency crews as they worked furiously to save the worker's life.

"They were working on him, but you could see he was dead," said Halcyon Alexander, 29. "People were still coming through."

A 28-year-old pregnant woman was taken to a hospital for observation, and she and the unborn baby were both reported to be OK, said Sgt. Anthony Repalone, a Nassau County police spokesman. Four or five other people suffered minor injuries, he said.

Ellen Davis, a spokeswoman at National Retail Federation, said the group knew of no other incident where a retail employee has died working on the day after Thanksgiving.

Wal-Mart is working closely with police, company spokesman Dan Fogleman said.

"The safety and security of our customers and associates is our top priority," Fogleman said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with them and their families at this difficult time."

Man, people are pathetic. Makes me REALLY angry. Poor guy, thats tragic. Makes me want to pistolwhip somebody.

Work is evil. Too much time to do nothing. I just ordered me a Guyot standard, and Maxpedition M2 for my Kit......:o

Black Friday has gotten a bit insane. Mywife, daughter, mother-in-law and I have gone together for years, I'm the driver and bag carrier! Actually the last few years we have bought very little, this year we got a new monitor for my daughter's computer but I'm always on the lookout for kooks. As for people getting knocked down, a Wal Mart employee DIED in Long Island after getting knocked down by customers as he opened the door so I'm glad your wife was ok and you were there to help her.

I saw that about the WalMart worker. You'd hope that they could ID the people that did it from security cameras and then put them under the jail. At the very least, charge them with involuntary manslaughter.

As for me, I don't need anything that badly. It makes shopping on-line a lot more attractive.

I worked retail, and will never forget my first Black Friday. Two little old ladies beating the crap out of each other with their handbags, fighting over toasters. Grown men knocking each other down to get to the DVD players on sale, and tripping and falling on the plastic wrap around the skids. Grown men doing tug of war with DVD players.

I passed TVs out of the delivery truck out back the next year. I was a manager then, and stayed outside in the cold, over being witness to the madness. It was a 24 hour Walmart too.

You should get combat pay, and be issued a sidearm.

I avoid shopping and crowds....I just don't like people all that much especially when they are bent on showing their own greed.

Truly tragic - you know, capitalism has its flaws too!

Just read about the Wal-Mart guy getting killed, and also about the two guys shooting
it out and killing each other at the Toys r Us in SoCal.
This world is turned upside down and is absolutely crazy.
Greed sure does crazy things to people.

Usually sign off with a "Cheers", but not tonight.
No cheer here.

Glad you got your camera bro and also glad your wife's ok.

Its a damn shame about that Walmart employee, in NY. Security cameras should be looked at, and people should be prosecuted.

I agree....

Thanks buddy. You should see the bruises on her leg, and knee. I am pretty pissed.

J, glad your better half is alright. It's times like these that I remember why I needed to change the way I lived as a younger, more violent man. People are cattle when they act like those shoppers, and I would tend to treat them as such.

My wife and I were talking last night and have pretty much decided that this will be our last Black Friday early morning outing. Beyond the trampling at the Wal Mart and the shooting at the Toys R Us (apparently by men from "rival groups" according to the media, um, don't you mean "gangmembers?!"), we were in Staples picking up the monitors and never could've gotten out of there in a hurry if there was a fire. We had to leave via the front doors because the exits were only via the checkouts otherwise and you literally could not get close to them (we had paid at a separate checkout for the early morning items). So, that's probably it for us, it was a nice tradition that we always looked forward to but it's seen it's last days.

I saw them allready:eek:........ I mean.. um .....

I would be pissed to:o

:D:D

:D:thumbup: Yeah, I got the money you left on the dresser dude. Tell yours I left my wallet in her car.:D:D

Hahahahahaha!!!!!!

Thanks bro, you made me laugh. I just hit a deer on my way home, and needed that.:o
