Watch the very short video, then discuss the title. (this is from the floor of congress)

The US is changing rapidly and we could end up in a place very far from where this little experiment started. What does one do if the Republic dissolves into something else? Do you run, do you fight, do you submit? What do you do? If either of the first two, how do you do it?

I just like Ron Paul will follow the constitution. There are those who think this thread belongs in the political section and that is fine with me even though I think Freedom is so much more important than politics.

I'm more interested in discussing how one reacts/responds to such a thing as opposed to discussing the politics of the situation.

I'll follow the constitution, but if it is disbanded, then what?

What do you actually do?

The majority of the population won't even notice until their Starbucks and Monday Night Football are cut off.

Then you'll wish you'd bought more ammo. :p

Can't get the video to play, don't have cable and all that crap, just have dial up. Guess it won't happen then. :)

I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

I tell you what I won't do & that's post on a public forum what I will do.;)

It is Ron Paul speaking on the floor of congress about how the president is being given new powers including the ability to declare martial law for "other circumstances" and the repeal of the Posse Comitatus Act and the Insurrection Act. If you aren't familiar with what these acts mean, a link is below.

Patriotism. Im a patriot. Of the people by the people. That means something to me. If that awnsers your question about submiting.

Well crap.

I thought this might generate some interesting discussion but given the nature of the topic........yeah, I guess it isn't really something you can discuss here. Sorry folks.

Katrina taught me alot about urban survival, and what needs to be kept on hand, and looked at dependng on your location. I wouldnt want to be caught with my pants down so to speak.

I believe urban survival is a pertenant topic for a survival forum. Though political in nature, thee survival aspect is a pertinant subject.

You know quite well where this thread belongs, and I am not going to put it there for you. If you are going to post a political topic, post it in the Political Arena, and do so in compliance with their rules: don't just toss a bone over the fence for the dogs to fight over, explain your own views on the topic first.

Sorry Benjamin. I was looking for their input on how to respond to such a situation. I didn't want to start a dog pile.

I believe in this situation, holding out at our location( for most folks in or directly around urban areas) is just not possible, you will have to move, meaning, you better be set up to go mobile if neccisary. Think - lines of comunication will not be secure, so a plan needs to be put in place with family and friends, to stay off grid. Credit cards are traceable, so do you keep money on hand? Or will money no longer be usefull. IMO money will always be of use.

Well, right there is a survival skill. S.O.I. 8-)

Seriously though, disappear somewhere, live in a thicket and poach deer until it is over. Not said to be romantic either, I just don't know what else to do in cases of extreme unrest like that.

Just a note from me: I think this started as too much of a political topic, and Esav did the right thing, but I did like where Jake was taking it in terms of urban survival, etc., and techniques for surviving martial law as it pertains to skills. Let me think on a better way to bring up this subject so that it stays more on the skills track rather than the political track, if I can actually think of a way to do so.

There is nothing wrong with a topic on urban survival, suburban survival, what to do when the lights go out and the riots start. It might not be a great fit for a WILDERNESS Survival forum, but you could work with it.

Blatantly posting a link to a government official speaking to Congress is not the right way to start that off.
