Survivorman interview on QTV

man what a great interview. He is very humble, and not a jerk. What a great guy and great demeanor.

Cool interview,Thanks for the link:thumbup:

[off topic..kinda] Does anyone on these forums know Les?Or someone who knows him? It'd be great(understatement:rolleyes:) if he became a member here.

Les is so busy he was never even on his forum when I was there. I don't see him coming over here really.

I don't know him, but Les used to post with us on a canoeing forum based out of Canada. This was during the first couple of seasons of Survivorman. As I recall, he was always quite friendly and thankful to the other forum members. I don't think he has time now for online life and I'm pretty sure he had more than one account and username at that site.

Les posting as: Stroud

:thumbup:Thanks for the replies guys

It was just a thought.

sorry tholiver,I didn't mean to hijack your thread.

Back ON topic;)

Yeah Les is a gentleman! I was watching the QTV interview with Billy Bob Thorton and noticed the listing for the Survivorman interview!
Slightly off-topic but theres a real contrast for you.
Les= Humble, BB Thorton= not humble.
I like BB Thorton as an actor but he had a serious hissy-fit conniption during his interview.

Wow... what a great guy. I can't believe he has such a great sense of self and his own place in the world. A great contrast to compare him to BB Thornton, who is an egotistical idiot.

Thanks for posting that link.

It's moments like this that almost make me wish I had TV. Shucks, I've never seen a survivor man, although I hear about it, and now the series is over.

Everytime I see Les in an interview he is always polite, enthusiastic and just promotes the outdoors and outdoor education. I think he is completely stand up. The kind of guy you secretly wish to get stuck beside in the airplane for the red-eye.

I agree with all of you. Mr. Stroud comes across as down-to-earth, bright, funny and honest. He writes and presents himself clearly, and has the courage to show his goof-ups as well as his triumphs, so we can learn from them.

He also happens to be multi-talented, writing/performing much of the original music for his shows. I've seen you-tube vids of him playing with a band, and he's not too shabby.

I get the impression from what I've seen of his "Off the Grid" vids, that he's kind and generous to his family, friends and neighbors.

As I understand it, he's currently involved in a TV project where he teaches youngsters to survive in the boonies, without making them compete for cash, thereby reducing the kind of nonsense and back-stabbing you see on most "reality" contest shows. I applaud that.

I sincerely hope he's making a darn good living from his work, because it seems to me he's worked his tail off without stepping on anyone else.

In short, one of the very few TV "personalities" I actually enjoy, and encourage my kid to watch. A pretty good role-model for all of us. :) I'd buy him a coffee or beer anytime.

Rock on, Les!

You and me both pal.I think in a BF bar he's not need too much money.
My 10 year old nephew is a huge Les Stroud fan. He's got the DVD's and now his book as well.all through the woods around his house there's little embryonic survival shelters built all over.

In preparation for summer i think i will rewatch all the survivorman episodes this week!
Need to read Les's book as well!

I enjoyed Les's forum for a little while anyways. I contacted him about making him a knife and his wife replied. He seems like he would honestly enjoy a knife like we see here being made on this forum buy talented makers.
