Svord Feedback

Buying one for my next project, HATE the standard handle but will do one with a sambar stag handle after I finish my old hickory sambar bowie.

This.^
I thought about a G10 or Micarta handle but then it wouldn't be a Svord.
A Stainless blade version would be cool.

I think Svord works strictly in L6, though I wouldn't be opposed to seeing a ss peasant folder come out.

If you polish L6 up (much like D2) its quite corrosion resistant...the finer the polish the harder it is for corrosion to take hold, which is why some oriental swords were burnished and didn't rust despite being made of iron.

Will definitely post pics when I get onto it...the bowie project is going to take a few more weeks.

Oh I know it is, but coming from Svord (at least the peasant, don't know about their other models) it is more of a workhorse then a show piece in my eyes, and that means a nice patina.

the SS comment was simply to say that it would be nice for a variety then just L6, though they do a wonderful HT on L6

Gang- I will keep one stock. But... my good friend Nick Rossi is going to make a blade for my second Svord, a Japanese style chisel blade.

i love mine though i dont carry it as much as i should, every time i pick it up i'm like why dont i carry this more often:D
i have used mine in food prep quite a bit, havent modded mine 'cept smoothing the handle out some

Love this thread.

I picked up three peasants knives a few months ago, one rainy weekend I'll get to modding the wooden one.

These are amazing value.

Thanks for all the input.
SIMPLE works.
And, as you all know, this knife begs to be put to work.

i had the same problems with my wooden one, it had blade play and the blade hit the brass rivits so i made i a fixed blade and convexed the edge and made a choil for it. its a really good bushcraft knife now

The Svord looks to me like a recipe for a hole in my pants pocket. :thumbdn:

I'm amazed no one has talked about that. What's the secret?

Yer GTG. The knife is light weight and the tang faces up, in just the right place so you can grab it.

RB- Polish... how, please?

Use wet and dry sand papers, start at 400 and work through to 2000 grit, when on 2000 grit use the paper you do the final hand rub with until it is completely work out and it'll be a mirror shine.

Not a problem- carry it vertically with the tang up and nothin'll happen. If youdon't have it adjusted too loose it'll stay closed and the tang is of no bother.
