Svord Peasant

Note: In the Svord website, the review of the peasant said that they pounded the blade through a quater inche bar of steel and bent the blade 90 degrees without damage to the edge.

This sounds really incredible. Especially, for a production folder. If I not mistaken, the blade is only 1/16 inch thick.

Wow. Sounds like a solid, working knife. Instead of a big, high dollar, survival knife, just get a bunch of Svords, Moras, and Opinels, and scatter em throughout your home, autos, packs, and one of your choice on your belt when you go here and there. For the weight of one of those "BigBads" you could carry a few spares.

So, any word on the pricing for a group buy?

Btw, notice how once again, proper edge geometry and careful heat treating seem to make the difference in performance?

I am informed by Cougar that my post at other forums linking to this thread is "spamming." While I did not understand such a post to be "spamming," I will not be posting further in this thread.

Edit:
Auction / Deal / Bargain Spotting
This is a variation of the "no spam" rules that we have. We know you found a great deal on a Ninja Death Tool 3000 - we don't care.

If that dealer wants to advertise on BladeForums.com, encourage them to purchase a Dealer membership here instead of giving them free advertising.

This infraction can be issued as a warning and is worth 10 points towards your total. It expires in 12 months.

When you look at that knife. There is a piece of the tang/tail that sticks out back of the handle like a sore thumb. I wonder if the grip on the peasant is comfortable or not.

My blade maxs out at 2.2mm (~.087 inches IIRC), right over the Svord logo. However most of the blade is more like 2.13mm, in the untapered portion.

It really depends on how you hold the knife. It can be very unfortable or not noticeable, all depending on how exactly you hold it. It can take a little getting used to, depending on how you naturally grab a knife, but in the long run it's not a biggie.

That's pretty cool. If you wouldn't mind mp510, please give us a review of this interesting knife. I think we'd all really appreciate it.

Just wanted to give you guys a heads up. I found a US dealer for the Svord peasant knives, and he's none other than Ragnar at Ragweed Forge.

Amazing what you can acomplish with an email -- when you're communciating with a vendor whose genuinely customer-focused. :)
