Svord Peasant

That's the Gent model But not the Peasant model. Right?

Should be. When I talked to him back in Feb07, he said that he was running out of Gent blades.

The standard-size 3" Peasant appears to still be in production though.

Too bad about the Gent, I was planning to order one of those. Maybe later in the year we could get the votes together for him to do a Gent run?

For those that are interested in this knife, I noticed yesterday that they are now available at Ragweed Forge.

Svord makes some really good knives.

Another really good one is his Von Tempsky bowie, an excellent and hard use replica of Von Tempsky's actual bowie.

Not only a great knife but it comes with a REALLY spectacular history.

This is also a Von Tempsky, he made it with a african wenge, the sheath he made after an idea from your member ausjulius...

I'd be in :)

I emailed the Bakers to ask about a minimum order for Gent (1.75" or 2") friction-folder blades.

I also asked if it would be possible for buyers to get just the plain carbon-steel appleseed blade itself, so that they can make their own scales.

I'll report back on what he replies. If the min order is attainable, I'm sure I can wrangle up at least a dozen or two orders over on TheHighRoad.

Don't get too excited yet, but let's keep our ears up.

I got mine here: http://www.ragweedforge.com/HistoricalKnifeCatalog.html

It's a decent little knife. The blade was a bit broad for my tastes, although it's a fine EDC. (I just got through carrying it for 3.5 weeks on the North Slope here in Alaska):D

I'm glad I got it to play with and learn from, but realistically I don't see it remaining in my collection much longer.

Would you mind filling in a little detail? Likes & dislikes, strengths & weaknesses. More of friction-folder-in-daily-use review than a Svord review, if possible. I like the idea of friction folders a lot but have some doubts about using one on a daily basis.

I have a Svord for Mathew's Group buy a while back and I took it on a trip to Haiti, It was a great knife, it did way more than I thought and I have a report over on THR about it. I will expand what I did with mine later, I have to go on a delivery.

....:) yes, it is wonderfull and i will order more of them, also Bryan send me today pictures of his new creation , the Peasant titanium.I will add more peasant models later on my Website.

that's pretty hot.

i also just had a vision of one done in translucent green G10.....

Just heard back from the Bakers (Svord smiths).

The Gent Peasant (2") is discontinued, but they have a decent number of treated, drilled GPK blades that they can sell us quite reasonably. Make-you-own-scales and all that.

They also have a more limited number of damascus GPK blades.

I'll be picking up one damascus and a few regular for some future projects.

Here's a pic of the basic model with metal scales. Not too artsy a pic, but I've seen photos of really cute GPK done on antler tips, like a mini version of Jenni's knife shown earlier in the thread.
