I've been looking around for a strong fixed blade and funnily enough I ended up here. I've got a few questions if anyone could clarify please?

  • I live in the UK and from what I've read in the stickies, I should be purchasing from swamprat.de - is this correct?
  • Is the 8-12 weeks wait applicable from the German site too? I assume it is.
  • I understand the Bog Dog is no longer being made in D2 and that there is an SR101 model in the works. Any idea how soon this will be available to order from the German site? I couldn't see it on there.
Thank you in advance!

I think you can order from the .com site.
From memory, I think the wording was something along the lines: "Europe - except the UK - should order from .de"

The rest of the Q's I don't know nothing about.

Good good! Thank you for replies so far.

Would anyone be able to shed any light on my other questions please?

I ordered a Camp Tramp from the States, back in the beginning of March.

So far nothing. :(

The 6 weeks quoted on the website for orders is obviously completely inaccurate.

(So far for me it has been the best part of four months!! and still nothing)

The 48 hrs quoted to get a response to emails is also completely inaccurate.

( I have now sent about 10 emails, only two of which have ever been replied to)

If you send an enquiry to the orders email address you just get an instant automated reply.

If you are lucky you might get a more personal email back a couple of weeks later. In my case saying that it would ship next week........... and here we are still. Coming up to two months later...........

To be fair the emails that I have recieved eventually have been polite. Its just a shame they have been able to shed no light whatsoever on the status of my order.

I don't want to kick anyones sacred cow. Swamprat knives have an awesome reputation (Which is why I want one!) Eric and team all seem very nice on the forums.

But so far I am not impressed by the inaccurate time estimates, the slow or completely absent reply to email enquiries. And most importantly still no knife!

C'mon guys

The disclaimer on the orderpage is quite clear on this matter:

Please allow 8-12 weeks for delivery. It may be considerably less than that or it may be longer. We give top priority to our military orders and these can greatly affect delivery times. Your credit card WILL NOT BE CHARGED until just prior to shipping.

In my experience critical mails are answered within 24 hours.

It may take a while, but in the end you'll be happy with your Rat..

Good Luck

Thank you for not answering ANY of my questions Kiri. Start your own thread.

Does anyone know about the new Bog Dog then?

As your post title was Swamp Rat to the Uk I thought you might be interested in what happens if you do order a SwampRat to the Uk.

Silly me.

The Question regarding the .de site had clearly been answered allready.

I have no idea about the Bog dogs because curiously I don't work for Swamprat.

Excuse me for attempting to give you relavent and helpful information.

come on chaps - no trolling here !!!

:barf:

I don't think it's trolling, not quite yet anyway.

Please understand I've been with SRKW since near the beginning and Busse shortly after. The non Busse or Rat knives I own, I can count on one hand. The knives from Wauseon number about 20 or so. So, this is not a slam or trolling, but an observation.

I know on at least 2 occasions I've HIGHLY reccomended SRKW to people who have either not ordered or canceled the orders simply because of e/m's not being answered. I've long ago given up on e/m'ing Busse. I simply call the shop and many times end up talking to Jerry. Simple.

However, that is not the case with SRKW. It is strictly online communication and it appears to not be functioning as it should. This, quite simply HAS to be addressed. I'm sure Eric is more than flooded with e/m inquiries that are many x what they were a couple of years ago. Build a better mousetrap and all that. LOL Eric is only one guy, with a family, and does stuff like go to work, eat, sleep and 'things'. There is only so much we should expect of him. He certainly has more energy than I do!

But still, SRKW needs to do certain things, like concentrate on the standard line to make sure orders are met before 'limited runs' are attempted and get with the program on answering e/m inquiries and orders. No slam here, but let's leave these micarta handled PIA to produce limited runs alone till the inventory is chock a block full of the standard line. THEN, if you want to go off on a tangent, great. There are just too many first time customers waiting.

Just my .02

Rob

maybe not trolling but it's fuel on a fire and there is nothing worse than 2 brothers from england starting a row about some good steel. I just want everyone to play nice !!

can see both points of view !

Hi,

On reflection it might have been better to put my reply in the thread about "Whats the current wait on a Camp tramp"

I was genuinely attempting to be helpful to daverave999. As one Uk knife nut to another... I was just saying....... "look heres my experience......."

I feel my observations were accurate and fair. There was certainly no conscious attempt to Troll, Flame etc..

After all if I wasn't interested in buying a SwampRat knife I wouldn't be in this subforum and wouldn't have ordered one!

We UK knife nuts have enough problems as it is with ever more restrictive laws and the problems that Customs + Excise give us. We should stick together! I did feel Daves reply was a little ungracious however.

To be fair to Eric, about 20 mins after I posted my above post I recieved a reply from him and apparently my knife has shipped. I shall let you know if / when I recieve it. (I am looking forward to it very much! :) )

I appreciate what it says now on the website about the waiting times and I am glad that the estimate is now more accurate. When I ordered back in March the estimate was six weeks. You can understand why customers then get a bit hot under the collar four months later. After all if it said clearly "expect to wait four months" I would have still ordered and it would have saved myself and Eric time exchanging emails later on.

i agree with the whole stick together thing - we have it rough here in england !!
