Swamp Rat Fans... Are you a Micarta or G10 fan? And, most importantly, why?

G10 pretty much bullet proof but micarta is tuff and light.. get what feels right to you, i thought id hate the feel of Micarta but my SSLE feel like its a part of me, but my next two blades will be in G10 due to Micartas lack of color options! (BLACK AND TAN G10 is so darn good looking!!!!)

I prefer g10. I like that it doesn't have any absorbent qualities. If I want a cheap beater though, I'd go with micarta and save $$

Micarta for me. I like the feel of it. More grip. But, G10 looks great, and some of my safe queens wear G10.

I like to match the handle material with the intended use of the knife. If the blade is a dedicated chopper, NOTHING beats a Res-C handle to absorb that bone shattering shock! Regarding a do it all "jack of all trades" type of knife, I feel that micarta feels the best in hand and provides a little more cushioning over g-10. For EDCs and smaller knives, g-10 feels super solid and doesn't loose any coloration at all. I have had some g-10 choppers however, and after chopping for an hour or so with a g-10 handled knife you can really feel the effects in your hand. Horses for courses as the saying goes!

My thoughts PRECISELY. Smaller knife = g10. Chopper = res -c. Middle ground = micarta. Though I like micarta on smaller blades too.

Micarta all the way!!! Specifially black canvas or linen. I love how it darkens with use.

I actually love them all. I pretty much get the one that I think looks the best on the blade and get it. :D

Same here!!

I also like them all.

I have used ResC, Micarta (both linen and canvas), g10 and paper micarta.

I like them all, and would have no hesitation using any.

Canvas micarta on my user. G10 if I ever do end up buying a safe queen, though im not in the habit of spending money on something I dont plan to use.

G10 is pretty (and still uber-tough.) For a hard user, I prefer micarta. It just *feels* right.

My thoughts as well! Ratweiler with the old school rope cut micarta?! Looks better than Brittany Spears circa 2002.

I like the feel of micarta (never tried black paper), but theyre a bit messy after skinning and gutting procedures. It might be that it dosn't formally absorb but I think the smell of carcass seems to stay put for a while.
Imagine the smell of zombie-carcass:D on your "precious"
From now on Ill get G-10 for most of my go-to blades. A lot easier to clean up methinks

Does swamp rat ever use linen? I only see canvas on their site.
