Swamp Rat Fans... Are you a Micarta or G10 fan? And, most importantly, why?

esee 3, 4, 5, and 6.... used to be the rat line of knives. to my knowledge the tan coated blades use canvas micarta. the black and green blades with micarta use linen micarta. then then there are the g10 available models.

micarta is nice but, but it notice it holds stains easier than g10. but g10 is also a little slicker of a grip. its a toss up for me, on edc i like g10. but for the outdoors i prefer a little more grip.

I prefer the texture of Micarta especially if it is the "hand shaped"/sanded type.

G10 for small fixed blades and folders, canvas micarta for larger blades AND for small, res-c for intended chopping.

For me micarta is a jack of all sizes. I got a large folder with micarts scales and it's great. Res-c has distinctive advantage on a large beater, but micarta will do just fine.

So does that mean you would put micarta on a Rucki or Waki?

Both! For me micarta works better than G10. Micarta gets 'grippier' when wet or dirty, G10 might become slippery, unless it's heavily textured like folders, but then without glove you'll tear up your hand.

Now, that's my personal opinion and experiences, there are others who have different opinions...
