Swamp Rat Knives

Uh...right. You go to the store site and click on a knife pic then......nothing. When you go to "place an order", then you get info. This is counter intuitive to 99% of first time site browsers. Why would you place an order on an item that you have no information on? If they feel that losing orders isn't an issue to them, fine. Atleast we all brought this observation to their attention.

when i click on the pic, i get the knife info. the hr's are in stock, the mojos are not.

First thing you gotta understand is with the expanded shop and going 24/7 (Busse days, Swamp Rat nights and weekends), they simply cannot keep up with demand.

Jerry also will not increase production to the detriment of quality. Period! They can produce X number of knives in a given time frame and that's it.

It's not that they don't care about your money, but they really don't need it.

A little story.

A few years back, the Busse site was down for about 9 months and there was basicly 0 civilian orders. Jerry seemed in no hurry to fix the site.

In that same time frame Busse Combat and SRKW was still going full bore 24/7 and everything was getting sold, but to the military and it still wasn't enough.

Jerrys view is that Military and LE comes first and civilians are a very distant second. I totally agree with this and get what I can when I can and thank God that some grunt on the pointy end got his first.

FWIW, I agree. I'd rather see my young brothers and sisters get the knives first. I'm happy with whatever trickles down my way...I just 'want' the knives, I don't 'need' them.

Hey, you know, it's all good. If SRKW is mostly aimed at a non-civilian market then that's cool. There's lots of good knives out there for us average joes.

I just wish people would stop recommending them when your basic civilian wilderness type comes around asking "what knife?" I mean, it doesn't matter if the guy makes the best darn knives in the known universe if they simply aren't meant for the new guy trying to get himself kitted up. Know what I mean?

Without belabouring the point, this is what I meant.

Anyway, I appreciate all the information in regard to S.W./Busse etc. Now I understand the parameters that we are all working with. These knives are the best, they are limited production to ensure pristine quality standards, the millitary and Law Enforcement officers are prioritized for shipment and what's left is quickly snapped up by the public. I also understand now that the web site is a very low priority. So bitching n' moaning about the site is like trying to pick fly turds out of pepper...who cares. Nowwwwwwwwwww........ I "get" it

I ordered a Howling Rat off the web site on Saturday 3/24, got a notice that the knife has been shipped today 3/26. Looks like they are pumping these out while they last. The notification is a basically useless USPS tracking number that never updates, nothing like a UPS tracking number, but at least I know it is on the way.

You identified the real issue B. When someone wants to know who makes the best then the Busse family knife companies are always on the list. Busse knives aren't impossible to get, they're just not sold according to the typical consumer retail model. That doesn't mean that they shouldn't be recommended to potential buyers looking for a top-tier knife.

Recommending a Busse family knife does merit explaining that a) you'll have to do some homework to find out what Busse knife matches your need and b) you may have to buy the knife in secondary market if you want it "right now" or wait for the next batch production run whenever that might be.

In my experience, products with enduring value are worth spending additional time, money and effort for. Ultimately everybody makes their own decision.
