It looks really ugly to me. And not in the good way. Personal taste, though. :o

I don't trust trailing top edges (toe of the blade) because of possible glances.

Furthermore, these look like they would be uncomfortable to work with: the handle slabs leave too much tang exposed so it will be hard on your hands while also transmitting shock (both from impact and electric wires).

IMO, these are just for the showcase...

Is it supposed to be a crash axe? I agree that it doesn't look very practical.

The rat hawk's head design looks similar to the Winkler combat axe . However, with a longer, rounded blade and beard. Also a longer spike.

It looks like a distant cousin of the Busse Megalodon with less pronounced curve on top of the edge.

Looks like 25" compared to the dude on the left. The choke up might be too difficult with such length.

SR101 i presumed would handle the impact on the bearded edge. Would it get stuck during breaching? For some reason maybe the rear spike is more useful for intro when chopping through a door?

I feel the micarta handle should be fortified to handle the vibrations on the handle. That's what it's there for.

Thanks for informing us GlockCrazz

looks like someone's been watching alien.
Looks like it could be fun in a melee, but I'm reserving any judgement on function until I have a chance to hold one.
(slim chance, but possible)

Agree with the handle micarta being small. In addition I would like a shorter and more sturdy spike. With the weight involved it may not be necessary for a longish pointy tipped spike in order to poke holes into stuff, also I'm kinda paranoid about rebounds cause the spike can shish kebab my noggin :)

Nice beard, looks sturdy. Hope the price is good, wonder what's the thickness :)

I held it today. A tiny bit heavy for it's size. I like the design, but you guys are right about the micarta. My hand was touching all metal. The spike is scary sharp too. I asked if maybe they would consider a hammer poll type design. He said probably not.

The design got the option to slice, poke and chop but no bludgeoning option :)

But seriously, if I don't want to kill a perp then what can I do with it? At least with a hammer poll I can (with some control in force) just break the arms and legs. Also hammer poll allows for breaking through stuff like cement brick walls, which the current design couldn't do well.

looks more like one of these than the Megalodon. I like it though, just like I am a big fan of the Sayoc.

Just smack 'em with the flat of that paddle-shaped head! :p

Seems stupid but I never thought of that :)

But whacking through brick walls would seem more suitable for hammer poll ends. Sometimes you just wanna whack at something without cutting/poking through it :)

If you REALLY wanted to, it looks like there is enough meat to the body of the spike that you could grind it down half-way and end up with a decent poll (although it would probably be pretty thin in cross-section).

Doing just that with my Cold Steel Trench Hawk :)

I'm surprised at the criticism so far in the thread - while the head of the hawk has some features that I don't care for, I was impressed with the hawk overall and particularly liked the handle.
As for similarities with anyone else's hawk - that is a stretch IMHO. We are used to liner locks being almost identical except for one or two variations here and there and we think nothing of it because there are so many out there - the tactical tomahawk market is relatively small so when a new design comes out it is easy to think someone is getting ripped off. It does happen, but not any more than the rest of the cutlery market.
I think Swamp Rat has a good thing going and will do well with it.
