I been deciding over a Scrapyard Dumpster Mutt or one of the Swamp Rats.
And have been looking at the Tom Brown Tracker.

Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I'd go with the Scrapyard Dumpster or one of the Swamprat knives, leave the Tracker for Tommy Lee Jones !!!

The Tracker is an acquired taste, and one that many never grow to like. If you don't love it to begin with, you may never like it, in which case you may be stuck with it. That leaves Scrap Yard and Swamp Rat. Best bang for the buck is likely Scrap Yard, although I have never owned a single one. I much prefer Swamp Rat personally just for the steel. You will find that it is more rust resistant than the Scrap Yard, but whether that and perhaps some other marginally better characteristics makes a Swamp Rat worth the extra $, that is for you to decide. Good luck.

you couldnt be more wrong... iirc, tommy lee had the little knapped knife and benicio had the tracker :p
the moccasins they were wearing were cool though :)

I'll mostly be using it for general use, hunting, camp chores, except batoning and chopping, I will let my axe do those tasks.

I'm starting to lean towards the Dumpster Mutt.

The Dumpster Mutt has a smallish handle, so if you have smaller hands (I do), the Dumpster Mutt is for you. I have a couple, and they are sweet! You can't go wrong with either, though.

i just got the dumpster mutt i really love this knife .its thick enouph to chop with and short enouph you dont look phychotic on a trail or a greenhorn on a hunt
though becouse it is so thick ill probably also carry a small folder for skinning
i was really suprized how quick it chopped through some two by fours
not the perfect tool for the job but it did it (though if you're bringing an axe...

My all around super beater is my Scrapper 6, what a tough and fuctional knife, after all is said and done, the only complaint I can come up with is that its an ugly little thing, but what a tough, tough knife. I beat it through so many small logs one weekend, my arms felt like jello, and it still had the same edge that I started with. I had to make a leather sheath for it, as I hate nylon sheaths, but I would bet my ass on this knife. Gene

How do you know the Scrapyard knives rust more easily if you have never had one ?

Since the Dumpster Mutt isn't in the company store now, the yard hook caught my eye as well. Does anyone own one these?

I recently got the Swamp Rat Howling Rat Little Mischief which I believe is still in the company store. It is a great knife for what you are looking for! I think it would be better for your purposes than the Yardhook, but I'm sure they are both better than the vast majority of the choices out there.

Identify your needs, then buy the one that's in stock, whichever company that might be.

If both have that knife, the best value is SY, but there is a lot to say for Swamprat.

Res-c or micarta? Pays yer money and make yer choice.

.

I like the res-c Handles way more than micarta, but the howler rat is cool but I still am wanting a sy way more.
