Swamp Rat or Scrapyard

if you can find a swamp rat camp tramp on the secondary market it is a really good blade size for just about everything.

Ok, i've made up my mind, Scrapyard it is, thank you Pit man/dog for convincing to go towards the light!:D

My pleasure....just don't blame me when you when you become a Scrap addict !!!

I have the DM and it is a great little tank. I will shortly have the yard hook, they just came out and I should get it this week, I'll post some pictures and thoughts on it then...

Since the Dumpster Mutt isn't in the company store now, the yard hook caught my eye as well. Does anyone own one these?

I just got the Yard Guard in. It is very robust and significantly larger and heavier than the Dumpster Mutt. The spine of the blade is thicker than the Scrapper 6 especially near the tip of the blade. For all round trail/camping use I think I will carry the Scrapper 6 as it is a bit more compact and lighter.

I just got a Scrapper 6 and Yard Guard in the other day. Both are very robust. I like the recurve style on the Yard Guard but prefer the overall size and weight of the Scrapper 6 for a belt carry blade. The Scrapper rides in a kydex by Azraels Custom Leathers. It's a keeper. The Yard Guard I'm not too sure of yet.

For what you want I would look at getting the 3/16 inch stock. If you're not going to chop or baton then a 1/4 inch knife is pointless but YMMV. I have a Howler LM and I love it. Coupled with an axe you don't need it to be any bigger/stronger.

here's my DM:

These have to be one of the best EDC's ever made eh ? The size is perfect, any bigger and you would most likely end up leaving it in camp etc rather than taking it on your hike !!!

That DM looks like a keeper. I have a 5.5" Ranger that is filling the gap between the 4" and 7" blade. This is my first experience with the Busse/spinoffs and I'm glad they made a line that is affordable to the regular guy.

Since the current line is sold out, you may want to take a look at Ranger Knives as a viable alternative. Prices are similiar to the original Scrap Yard pricing as they are now marked up on the secondary market.

I have the Yard Hook from Scrapyard knives. I am quite happy with it. I think the dumpster mutt may be a little small for chopping, but quite up to the task compared to other knives of its size. Edge geometry of the Yard Hook was unlike any knife I have played with before. It cut the heck out of cardboard, was shaving sharp, yet I had a hard time whittling with it. It chopped well enough to be a camp knife.

Knightbody, go to the exchange here and you should be able to fine one! good luck :)
