I thought I'd take advantge of the BR's lengthy blade and augment its chopping and shearing potential. Now I have my ideal big bladed backwoods survival bowie.

I had Tom Krein of Krein Knives do the grinding for me. Super-nice man, full of good info and very good prices.

Battle Rat, Paul's Ratchet, and a Howling Rat with its Okuden sheath.

Below is what may be my ideal big/little knife combo pairing (as if such a thing existed ;) ). It's an INFI Bandicoot from the Swamp and a Nick Wheeler custom chopper in a square-nose format like a cane knife or a corn knife. The chopper is made out of W2 steel (LOVE the hamon line that Nick got on this one :D ) and canvas micarta purposely left roughened. The handle swells make it really comfortable for extended sessions and very secure in the hand. Both sheaths are by Okuden (Brian Wagner). I had the slots put into the Wheeler sheath so I could strap it to a pack if desired. They are both examples of how Brian's sheaths always have such amazing fit, finish, and attention to detail. Gotta love 'em!!

Or for a strictly Swampish big/little combo, follow the link below to a Battle Rat hangin' out with his little Howling Rat buddy (1024x768, 200kb).

RokJok,

I am a newbie to Swamp Rat knives. I love the pics that you posted. I have a question..... what is the "INFI" stand for in your pic of the Bandicoot? It is obvious that your coot has a way cool desert tan finish and I would love to have one, but I can't find it on the Swamp Rat web site.

INFI is a proprietary steel used by Busse Combat, the parent company to Swamp Rat Knife Works. Swamp Rats were not supposed to be made from INFI, but a run of Bandicoots was done in INFI "accidentally".
:)

These Coots are called INFICoots to distinguish them from the regular Bandicoots done in Swamp Rats SR-101 steel.

I think that covers it.

Back from the dead. What pics are left are great ones.

Ian - What was the story behind the hawk? Your's, or just one that hung around the farm?
