Hey guys I recently bought a rodent 9, and from what I can gather on the site it has a convex edge. Im just wondering how exactly do i sharpen a convex edge? I once read in a book that all you have to do is pull instead of push? Also my current sharpener is 1000/6000 grit water stone, is that good?

It's a V edge on a slight convex grind. Sharpen as normal with stones.

You might want to invest in a coarse waterstone, a 1k is okay if the edge is in decent condition but will take forever if you way to reprofile or correct any problems.

I use the pull method on wet/dry auto sandpaper. Usually up to 1200 grit. Usually makes for a fine polished edge. Place a mouse pad under the sandpaper to keep that convex edge. I do this for all of my knives and the edge is usually pretty good. I'm no expert tho. Like I said, works for me.... and they get shaving sharp - enough to clean out several deer this year on one sharpening with a Knife by Ray Laconico (awesome knives by the way).
