I recently traded for this knife. Even though it's not generally my style of knife, I always thought it looked like a great heavy duty knife in a compact package. Actually, heavy dudty is an understatement, at 1/4" this thing qualifies as a mini tank  It feels great in hand though, not quite as heavy as I thought it would be.

Anyway, they don't come with sheaths, and I really like leather. Sheathmaker is Harry Savage (goes by shaman15 here on BF) I asked him for a pocket for a Doan mag starter, and he did a great job on the whole package

(All you choil haters, I already know what you think of it! )

Dude - I am not a fan of the knife - but I am not the one using it. That combo is HOT. Nice sheath - the stitching that comes back on itself at the opening is a great touch.

Great lookin blade and sheath!

That sheath is really nice, and well made. I like that blade. Reminds me of a BATAC...

That looks great:thumbup: I love leather! Now, if that knife just didn't have a choil... (just kidding!).

It had to be said :D It is true though, the blade is only 4 1/2" which makes the choil unnecessary. It would give that extra inch or so of edge at the handle. But in use, I don't really ever feel hindered by them. For dedicated carving, it's not ideal though.

I had one for a little and loved how it felt in the hand, LOVED the handle and rode the hip great with my Rainwalker leather sheath. The blade just wasn't for me though. I do have a knife with that handle on my wish list...Rat Hunter, Dog Skinner or maybe Safari Skinner...

Congrats! Great looking rig!

I'm not actually a choil hater.. I cut the crap out of myself at our camp some years ago cutting rope in the driving rain on a dock with my favorite Brusletto, my hand slid forward... I like guards and choils, but I'm not gifted at fine work like some of the guys here...

A choil doesn't really bother me that much. On some knives I think, this would be a little bit better without the choil. However, for myself the presence of a choil rarely becomes a deciding factor on whether or not I buy a knife. I get hooked in by blade shape and handle material.

I tend to think .25" is overkill for a knife that size. However, you can really aggressively convex it to provide a very usable edge. I certainly wouldn't boot that knife off my belt, especially not with that beauty of a sheath!

Looks pretty good, and the leather is really nice. I like the idea of the mag bar in the sheath, too. Won't comment on choils.
