Swamprat, which should i choose

I'm going to have to get a Swamprat knife one of these days and then pray that I get a chance to go out in the great outdoors and actually use it. :) Is there any difference between the Battle Rat and the Camp Tramp other than size? Are they both differentially tempered, etc?

WadeF- Both the CT and BR are differentially heat treated. As you stated I think the main difference is in the dimensions. I've heard the CT is a great chopper for its size though, and that will probably be my next purchase if the Howler is a good as they say.

Anyone know if the Camp Tramp comes with a sheath standard? If not, where do you get a sheath for it? They don't picture or mention a sheath in the description, from what I saw.

Hi WadeF,
The Camp Tramp and the Battle Rat come with a kydex-lined nylon sheath similar to what is included with some of the Becker line- the sheath has a velcro/elastic pocket on it to carry extra gear. It looks similar to this - I think Swamp Rat and Busse use the same manufacturer for this style sheath. The one that came with my Camp Tramp was a bright green color with a brown pocket. The Battle Rat sheath was all black. I'm pretty sure there's no color choice, but haven't ever inquired.

I'm pretty sure several sheathmakes have one or both blades and could make a custom sheath without you having to send in your knife.

Thanks Jeremy! The sheath looks decent enough.

Small enough for frontpocket? But it is 23 cm, that's a bit big for that i think. Or if one have large frontpockets

I carry mine in my left front pocket and I wear blue jeans. If your pockets are too small, gain weight so you can wear pants with larger pockets.

Quit playing with this guy and let him order his HR! He can get fat later. LOL

When my wife lets me, I carry mine on my belt with the tip stuck into a hip pocket. It's not that big.

The only problem with Swamp Rat's "you decide the warranty" policy is that you really need to think it through. You are going to feel REALLY bad if you break the knife after six years of hard use, but only gave yourself a five year policy. Are you prepared to take that kind of responsibility for yourself? I'm not. No thanks. I'll stick to conventional policies that have the lawyer talk in them. At least if my knife breaks and the policy doesn't cover it, the manufacturer can take all that guilt because they decide the policy...I don't want it.

No SRKW or Busse for you...1 year! You must buy CS products and deal with the 'lawyer talk' for 1 year! Then come back, take some responsibility and write your own warranty. NO argee, Grasshopper! :-))
