Mike and I just finished this tactical knife and kydex sheath for one of our local policemen.
It is made from 1/4" CPM S30V and is just under 12" long, has linen micarta and bead blasted finish.
I think it came out pretty good. The kydex sheath is one of the best I've made.

Thanks Guys!
This is a "prototype" but he is plenty satisfied with it. We plan to make more if there is real interests. What would you change if anything? Yes I'm asking for opinions. I think it is a tad heavy with the 1/4" steel but if we make more I plan to have them jet cut and skeletonize the tang for lightness. The balance point is perfect on the index finger. The paracord holes need to be beveled also. Maybe the protruded tang could be shorter, modified or cut off flush if the customer requests. The sheath could be leather or kydex.

Well, since you asked :D

Instead of just beveling the paracord hole, why not mill the entire curve between them and make it a curved slot? I'd also do the skeletonizing, use 3/16" and double up on the scale screws on the butt (one on top spine, one on bottom grip side). Just my .02 but really a fantastic piece as it stands!

Good ideas Erik. Its easy to have the waterjet make the slot instead of piercing the holes. I like the extra screw suggestion also. You say use 3/16" instead of 1/4", is that for lightness?

Yup, for just a little bit less steel. I personally, on that size, like 1/4" but I like heavy...that's just me. Honestly, knowing how SWAT guys abuse equipment, I'd leave the 1/4" alone and just take some material out from under the slabs if you need it lighter...

There's many designs, shapes, sizes and want's in a knife but to my eyes that's as good as a knife can get.

The design has lots to like and several possible usages!

Thanks SpearZ, thats a hellava compliment.

I think I will leave it like it is with the lightening upgrades under the scales and slot the extended tang.:thumbup:

That should be a nice knife for those who could use such a fine, well thought out piece. Just nice to look at !

Very nice! I would run the scales all the way out to the end of the tang. The slot idea sounds interesting.

That's a great knife you made. Looks perfect for any tactical job to me. Great work all the way around!

Thanks guys. I value your opinions and listen to your suggestions. As a maker I want to produce a small batch of these if it passes inspection from the people on these forums. You guys probally look at more knives in one week than most anyone else sees in a lifetime so it makes business sense to pay attention to you. So Thanks!
