I picked this one up at Wannamacher yesterday.

IXL from 1890 to 1930 but more than likley before WW1 according to the old dawg.
The blades have been cleaned, but I had to have it anyway, you don't say no when a knife calls you.

yep... it's in my pocket :D

Thanks for posting! Very nice stag, extension spring , the bolster treatment, swedges, long pull, everything about this knife is cool

What a great knife!

Nice old IXL congrats on the find. If you are going to carry it and it's already been cleaned at. Why don't you clean it up correctly?

What he said. I bet that old stag will just gleam if you clean it up nice. That's a beautiful knife- "old school cool" indeed. Not many of those around, that's for sure! That thing is in amazing condition, considering how old it is. Those blades look like they haven't been sharpened very many times.

That knife is the "bees knees" and the "cat's whiskers"!

p.s. I've been waiting for a chance to use those old phrases from the 1920s. :-)

A great knife, on it's second crack at a respectable patina!
Dissenting voice here; PLEASE DON"T CLEAN IT!!
It is beautiful, and gracefully shows its age!!
You can never put back what you take away from that knife!

That's a pattern I'd love to see GEC bring back. There's just something about the combination of sheepsfoot and pen blades in that swayback frame... I don't think it would look as good with a clip and a pen, but that's me.

One again, beautiful find. And I bet that once it's rattled around in your pocket for a while the stag will acquire all the gleam that it needs.

James

Thanks for all of the nice words fellas.

No fear Charlie, she is staying as she is, there is no cleaning of old knives around here, just sharpen it and put it in the pocket ;)

Well to each his own and I respect your point of view. But I sure hate to see a pretty woman that needs a bath and a little powder...
