Swedge grinds

I grind swedges the same way I sharpen. If you have a means of controlling your angle for sharpening, I use a hanging parallelogram, you have a means of grinding a swedge. Once I stopped trying to grind them the same way I freehand grind a bevel it was super simple.

If you're going to freehand them this is one of the things a bubble jig is very helpful with. If I had an adjustable work rest on my grinder that's what I'd be using. For now, I just get them close to shape and hog off most of the material with my grinder and then dial them in by draw filing. It takes a little bit of extra time, but touching things up by hand is a great way to bring up the level of fit and finish. They are hand-made knives after all right? ;)
