Been thinking about the ol' BK2 a lot here lately, mainly about the grind. But I got to thinking about the difference between the BK16, and the BK17, was just the swedge. I did an animation about it. This is taking into consideration that the BK16 had the sabre grind:

Anyways, I applied the same principle to the BK2.

Again, the difference in the swedge/grind:

I'm a drop point kinda guy, but I did think the swedge on a BK2 is pretty cool.

It'd be very cool and useful if the BK2 swedge were done in a similar fashion to Haze's modded BK9. A flat top swedge just makes sense.

Man, you are doing some neat stuff lately. Would love to see some of these done.

That wouldn't be too hard to do with a dremel tool. I don't have a BK2, but it think it would be pretty cool, and make a fun project.
You are doing some very cool mock ups/ new designs, wish some of them could get made for real:grumpy::p:yawn:

Very cool stuff dubz, I think it looks kind of cool when it is in the transition between the two where the silhouette would still look like the bk2 but have a bevel ground into it. like a swedged drop point, if any of that made sense. Regardless good work man!

Yeah, I do see what you mean. Not sure what the benefit would be though, other than looking kinda cool.

so, apparently there are these magical people who prefer clip-points, but i don't know who they are...

in theory, the BK17 should outsell the 15 and 16

we'll see

I like the looks of a clip point. Just personal preference I guess. I actually contemplated going to the garage and grinding one in my 2 like haze did to his 9 but didn't and probably wont in the near future.

A while back Clich swedge his BK2, and asked me to chop a photo of one for him.

This is how I interpreted the swedge BK2.

Nice chop. Looky like you took the swedge off the 9, and added to the 2. That's what i would have done. ;)

Dubz, now that swedged BK2 is a worthy combat knife. SERIOUSLY, it's the best of both worlds: Very pointy for good penetration, yet very thick for strength. (keep the dirty thoughts to yourself please). Thats awesome work, as usual.

Caught .

Yea, it was much easier because the blades were roughly the correct orientation already.

Also, I forgot to mention, your chops look great man. I can mess with photos and move things around and edit the heck out of them. You however, can actually edit stuff and make stuff out of nothing, I'm way impressed with all of the stuff you've been doing lately and just wanted to state that :D.

Hey Dubz -- If you seriously want one, send me a BK2 blank and I'll swedge it like a BK10 for you. :D

Thanks, appreciated. I still struggle with the GIMP program. I still have much to learn. Sometimes it just works better than others. Don't know if I have a shakier hand some nights, or what, but that aliasing crap drives me nuts. Sucks being a perfectionist sometimes.

I have a BK10. ;) The swedge above is more akin to the BK17. As a matter of fact, talking about GIMP wizardry, I took a blade off a 17, and widened it to match the 2. I then made the swedge off that. ;)

When its driving you nuts (as it should, aliasing is terrible), try reducing the sensitivity of your mouse. I have a "fancy" mouse, where I can change the sensitivity on the mouse at any time, and when I'm doing close up work, I slow it WAY down.

If you have a normal mouse, you can still do it, just change it in the OS settings :).

Ok, I'll own up, I like swedges, I don't consider myself to be magical though.:)
I have a BK-17 on the way from a vendor, If they actually have it in stock.
