Swedish Barrel Knife, My Way. Aka the Australian barrel knife.

Great work, that's a real beauty

Smashing work sir

I'm quite partial to barrel knives and have been lucky to chance upon two very nice examples (given their age).

Your rendition is a sterling attempt. I particularly admire the blade work and the traditional construction of the 'skeleton'.

I look forward to seeing more!

Great first go, Corin. It's a good sign that you're still inspired after the first, probably a long career ahead.

That's awesome work Corin. Absolutely stunning. I can imagine the jaws dropping already! Have the Aussie crowd seen it yet?

It was very well recieved at the Canberra show last weekend. I am quite proud of this one. There is no blade play and it works and looks great but there are so many things to do better on number 2.

Hey meako, you are from Mount Keira? I am from Picton.

Niroc is my name on Australian Blade Forums if you are on there too. Do you make also?

Cool.don't go on Aussie forum much but am registered-I can attribute that to not being a maker and there not being many decent production knives for sale out here.
I did introduction to bladesmithing with my eldest son at Keiths Tahmoor forge a couple of years ago which was fantastic.Just up the road from you near Tahmoor pit.
I feel bad now because I didn't even know there was a Canberra knife show.I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more of your work.I'll PM my number so if you come to the Gong we could catch up.

I used to have a barrel knife years ago. You have definitely reproduced the design and produced a superb knife at that.

Thanks for all the comments folks, I will definately do a detailed work in progress to go with the next one. It's a good project, but unless you know the tricks it could turn ugly ;)

True about decent production knives for sale, though there was a lot at Adelaide show and it looks like Sydney show is going to be huge with some massive commitment from companies like Benchmade already locked in. Also the custom guys like Ali Bastion, Zac Cheong and Alistair Philips are making some awesome custom folders.

Keith Fludder is one of my best mates, his wife was my sons school teacher... I have done a couple of courses with him and as a matter of fact the damascus in this knife was made at such a course.

I will send you my number on ABF I will be out in the workshop Sunday starting on Barrel knife number two if you want to swing by and say hello, that would be cool.

Really nice Corin.
I think I'll have to make one of those with titanium liners. I love the saya style lock/release. Very nice knife in every way.

I had a barrel knife once. It was great, but the blade and pivot were in just too bad shape in the end, so off it went to be more of an antique somewhere.

Sterling and damascus is gorgeous ... but do you suppose 12C27, brass and cocobolo is possible? :)

Lovely piece, that
