After my french outdoor kit I present to you my swedish outdoor kit:

so yea, anyone else got swedish stuff to show? I'm still looking to expand this kit..

You might want to pick up a husqvarna for critters and such, and a SAAB to get you there?...

BTW...where did you get the sweet Kydex for the S1?
Oh, and I think the Fallkiven is actually made in Seki, japan...

Neat kit, we don't get access to the S1 in this part of the world. Mind you we make none of that kit and import all else.

Oh sorry we do make beer.

Nice kit, similar to my at home family survival kit; I just loose the ax, compass, firesteel, matches, pretty much everything but the vodka.:D

Great kit. You may want a bigger bottle of vodka for those cold night though :D

Nice. The only Swedish outdoor gear I currently own is a silva Ranger compass. Oh wait, I do have a Bahco axe and saw, I didn't remember they were bahco's until I recognized the fish logo on your pics.
And of course I do have some Ikea pencils somewere :)

Any chance there could ever be a small Belgian outdoor kit?
I'm from Belgium too, and don't really know (m)any Belgian outdoor brands. Do you know any?

kydex by Eric Normark (he's a member here)

I know the s1 is made in japan but I still consider it a swedish product, you can easily replace it with a mora knife though.

And I already work for Volvo so no Saab for me :)

I thought about that too, maybe a custom made belgian knife (from one of the guys on weapons.be) then an axe or saw from polet, matches from union match and I guess lots of beer..

I didn't realize union match was Belgian(thought it was British), but I have to admit that I never gave the subject much thought before.
And I forgot about Polet. I've used their axes and saws before but don't own any myself.

You need to add a swedish army mess kit including a trangia burner. And a plastic folding cup, those are neat.

If you look at it in a multicorportional view:
- gransfors wildlife hatchet * probably still a Swedish company
- bahco laplander * most likely owned by a US tool company
- fallkniven s1 * manufactured in Japan
- custom sheath by eric normark * Made in USA
- swedish firesteel (on the sheath) * assembled where?
- swedish matches * made by Swedish Match, still a swedish company?
- suunto compass (don't own a silva)* Silva is swedish
- absolut vodka * Sold to a french company
- läkerol candy * owned by a Norwegian company or Unilever or masterfood.

However, it is like IKEA (made where it is cheapest), Volvo (assembled in Belgium), SAAB (mine was made in East Sweden) and other things considered Swedish. It is the aura, the image, the approach to things that are Swedish, not where part A and B was assembled.
Like in Armageddon "US components, Russian components... they are all made in TAIWAN".

Note though that Läkerol, the matches, vodka and the Mora knife has been around for ages. If you could go back in time those things would probably look the same, except the vodka bottle which was called "Absolut renat brännvin" before 1979.

How about the Swedish trangia stove, or depending, the whole darn mess kit. :D

The Suunto compass is great. I have the metric version.

Just one idea....

great job, er but, if dis is a svvedissh kit and you need a small knive you for got the "mora" for eating, camp/utility/food prep. but great job. Pat

Excellent choice of gear there! I have most of those except the S1. My Bahco has a few areas on the blade that have almost become mirrored because of extended use. It still cuts just as good as a factory fresh one. Probably the best folding saw out there.

Great gear buddy.

Good kit. I may start throwing together some multinational kits. Throw in one piece of gear from a different country. Actually, my next project is to make a kit using only crap gear I find at Wal-Mart. We'll see how price really affects field use.

some great suggestions here, the swedish mess kit is definately on my list.
I also agree that the kit lacks a small knife for eating, but that's where the swiss come to help :)
nonetheless I think I see some more "classic" swedish blades in my future ;)

and nodh you're totally right about most items not being made in sweden or owned by swedes but they all got the soul of sweden imho.

also, great idea about a multinational kit, I'll think about that one

thanks for the suggestions!

Back in the old days, when the Soviet Union was expected to roll tank divisions through Europe and drop Spetnaz troops all over Sweden, the Swedish military issued the plain red handled Mora knife (painted green) and the bayonet for the HK G3 or Mauser M96 rifle (almost like the KAR98) and the huge bayonet for the M45 SMG to be used as tactical/combat/utility/tactical knives. In the mess kit you all know about (first made in alu, during WWII is steel and back to alu again) it should be a kuksa mug, a can opener and a spoon/fork/knife kit and a towel to be complete. Another interesting point about the mess kit. The alu model is now being disbanded due to the alu scare, the now issue messkits that my grandfather could actually have used during the war. So brand new, unissued alu kits go on surplus all over the world for scrap cost while the puny remains of the Swedish Armed Forces gets issued messkits produced in 1940 something.
They are also handing out the Military version of Optimus Tor, usually only used by special forces. They are alu though.
So in very short, if you get a complete Swedish mess kit, you dont need an extra knife for food.
