Swedish outdoor kit

Another interesting point about the mess kit. The alu model is now being disbanded due to the alu scare, the now issue messkits that my grandfather could actually have used during the war. So brand new, unissued alu kits go on surplus all over the world for scrap cost while the puny remains of the Swedish Armed Forces gets issued messkits produced in 1940 something.
They are also handing out the Military version of Optimus Tor, usually only used by special forces. They are alu though.
any hints how to get those? (also deseperatly looking for stainless versions but since you say they are re-issued it will be probably difficult to get any surplus.

The EKA Big Swede:

It is very similar in design to this Swede 82.

The last time I looked at Ragnar's they had a few others but not the Big Swede. The design differs from that 82 above in size and in that it has no nail nick. Also it is a conventional lock back whereas with that 82 the lock is cunningly hidden as part of the lanyard hole. I don't tend to take folders into the field other than a SAK, this one is my exception. It feels like a trade tool in the most positive sense.

As I understand it EKA provides some blades for Normark that look very similar to this but so do Gerber. I don't want to yell that too loud 'cos it may be wrong. All I'm saying here is that the Normark ones I've had in this range, clearly marked EKA, are good.

While it is a very dated design I think it's a great one - Images of the viscera here

tstetz reviews the 82 and show the potential for an evil convex here

I find it somewhat funny that my swedish and french outdoor kit threads got up to 2 pages of replies while the american kit only got 3 replies :)

and for the record, I DO have a large bottle of vodka :D

maybe a bottle of jack in the american kit will make it get more post,,only jo-ken

As long as Finland is included, how about a nice Sako or Tikka rifle? Perhaps chambered in either 6.5 x 55 mm Swedish or a proprietary Lapua cartridge?

For the American posters: the Silva sold in the US is NOT the Silva of Sweden.

+1 to getting a Swedish mess kit.
BTW, the Swedish mess kit fits perfectly in the Swedish Gas Mask Bag.

That saw looks great. Did some research and realized it is exactly what I am looking for. This site has cost me more money ...

I'm liking the vodka, are you going to be around snakes, here in the south we call it snake bite medicine.....................

I believe the Bahco is made by Kershaw (US) so maybe a Fiskars saw (Finland) might be more in line. Nice tools !

Definitely needs a Swedish Volcano Stove.
Only $10 some places, and definitely looks like a fun piece of kit.
I just picked one up and hope to give it a test run this week.

Isn't Bahco a Snap On company? Is Kershaw related to Snap On? I bought a snap on ratcheting screwdriver a couple years back. Best tool I own. Hands down. Expensive, but by far the best. The "Sebenza" of screwdrivers.
