Picked this up at River's Surplus in downtown Ottawa this weekend. Clerk thought it was Swedish, but wasn't sure. Any of you guys recognize?

Looks decent. Think I'll swap out the water bottle for something decent - I have a few stainless ones. Stove, bottle and cup nest together nicely. 14 bucks was the price.

looks like a nice compact version of the coffee can stove i see all the time...cool.

i like the cork in the water bottle...makes me think this is quite old?

I purchased a couple when they were $5.00 each at CTD. Mine are aluminum, simple to use, and work well. IMHO the cork is a pita so I just use a plastic bottle.

Is the mess kit big enough to replace the bottle with a .6L Sigg bottle? I have been considering getting something like a Kelly Kettle or Volcano Kettle but I think a mess kit like this might be more useful for my purposes. Thanks for the photos!

Finally got around to measuring the bottle for you. It's 3 1/4 inches wide at the base and 10 1/4 inches tall including the cork. I have a stainless with a 2 3/4 inch base that fits, but I might try to find a closer fit.

Hope that helps.

Hi guys,

You're right, that stuff is swiss...

...but that's not a wood stove...

Mountain troops used that stove to melt snow, most often only with the heat of a candle...

A fire hot enough to boil water in that "stove" will melt the aluminium...
Don't ask me how I know that, I did it!:o

Hope that helps!

Manu the frog.

That stove is made of aluminum not stainless steel I ,a metallurgist , can tell just by looking. That will melt about 1000F .
