Sweet and Salty...The Benchmade 531.

Hey everyone!

I need some advice here. Yesterday I purchased a Benchmade 531 for 140 after tax and all. I usually stay away from liner-less knives, but I figured the G10 and partial liners would be strong enough. I love the feel and look of the knife. I plan on using it as my EDC for when I'm wearing lighter clothes, like sweatpants, flannels, or a suit; and yes, I usually have a knife even in my pajamas :) the problem I'm having is blade play; I spent a good hour adjusting the pivot screw, but unless I have it cranked down to where it isn't smooth to open, there is side to side play. It's just enough to be annoying. I need help with two questions:

Should I worry about the strength of the G10 with only partial liners?

Does anyone have any advice for getting rid of the blade play without voiding the warranty?

To me, a 140 dollar knife shouldn't have the issue that it has...or am I just being picky?

Thanks in advance!

I would not worry about the G10 with liners. Blade play can be annoying if significant enough IMO. I can tollerate a bit to get the action I want. If it bugs you send it back or send it to Benchmade. With the higher prices now you should get what you want. That is part of what you are paying for.

This is the exact reason I don't buy many Benchmade's anymore. Still love the designs though.
