I had to bash this Condor Outback machete to get that dang handle off for another project, so I did it in a more creative way.

Funny thing about fighting inanimate object...you always lose. :p

Condor Outback Machete handle torture (notice I left out the word "test")

Nice video!

Nothing like repeatedly backing over something with a car in order to show how tough it is!

All the best,

Hmmm... I sense a schism, here.

We have one WSS moderator asking that a certain fellow's videos of knife destruction tests involving steel mallets not be discussed, here, and asserting that such tests are invalid.

Then we have another WSS moderator making videos of knife destruction tests involving steel mallets.

You'd have a point if they were the same sort of test. In this case it was a test of handle durability and handle durability ONLY--not the blade. No chopping concrete blocks or standing on handles. IIRC one of the tests that the Navy Seals used when deciding on their standard issue knife was very much the same thing as in this video, so there's some validity to be had.

;)

I dont think the use of the mallet on the handle was inappropriate. Using one on the blade in a cold chisel style is though.

So, the handle's exoskeleton on the knife is more important than the blade itself?

Interesting.

Love the music, lets see how the Blade handles the field Joe ...swipe chop slice.

Heck no! The 420 HC blade has been great (despite my whining, years ago, about it not being carbon steel. another story) ! I just haven't done a video for it. It has held up through a whole slew of chopping and slicing, and even bouncing on the ground during this little endeavor, there weren't any chips in the edge. +2 points for the word exoskeleton

I agree evolute. I would never call this an actual test either. In truth, I was trying to get the damn handle off for another project. I guess I should have put that in . I did the film for fun to see what it would take. You could say I was trying to break it "creatively". I'm not one for destruction testing myself and I agree. I did finally get the bugger off, with a chisel, a hack saw, and a hammer.

Cool! Much appreciated. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's curious. It's just like with Moras or other hidden-tang pieces. You just have to know! :D

If I'm not mistaken, around the 37 second mark, you can hear the machete laughing as if it's being tickled.

That's crazy.

Joe was testing the machete. Just checking the durability of his sledge and the tires on his Jeep. They held up to the torture pretty well.:)
