This knife has been on my radar lately. Without judgement or agenda, I am curious whether the spring breaks occur as a single opening after some time or after repetitive opening and closing in say five minutes or less?
Sorry to hear that lordroy, I had experience 2 more broken springs after creating this thread, they told me it was spring temper issue. Does your broken one has the newer secondary lock?
The spring on the new model with secondary lock has a different color so im assuming they fixed the temper on it. I haven't used my replacement enough to see if it'll break since i kinda lost confidence in it.
If you got the older model, you should call them(email may be hit or miss) and request for the newer model with secondary lock.
Wow, they may get sued then, because they copied shmicrotech feature! You could have opened it once and it breaks.
First I want to say I have nine Cold Steel knives I was a big fan last year I purchased a Cold Steel Swift and the spring just broke GSMO a.k.a. Cold Steel refuses to look at it he said it’s not in production anymore and it’s under normal wear and tear that it broke, I warn everyone cold steel is not the company it used to be, this is an on going problem with the swift,Sorry to hear that lordroy, I had experience 2 more broken springs after creating this thread, they told me it was spring temper issue. Sucks that this happened to you, but not sure what they can do, considering it is a long discontinued model and they don't know what it's been subjected to since it was manufactured. Even if GSM hadn't bought them and it was still the old CS, not sure they would've been able to do anything. Would have been nice if they offered you a discount on a new knife though.First I want to say I have nine Cold Steel knives I was a big fan last year I purchased a Cold Steel Swift and the spring just broke GSMO a.k.a. backstory a friend of mine told me how good HARNDS knives were I purchase one and the clip broke call customer service in four days they sent me a new knife AND A 50 PERCECT DISCOUNT ON ANY OTHER KNIFE WITH AN APOLOGY this is a Chinese company folks out beating call Steel in Cs I’m not saying they’re as good as Cold Steel,But Cold Steel could learn something from the customer service.
If you’re looking for a knife go elsewhere other than Cold Steel unless you like horrible customer service and a worthless knife, try Spyderco or Zero tolerance where they care
