Swiss Army Knife: Most Useless

This is a very old thread, I know.

Although I don't carry a SAK anymore, the tools I miss the most are the bottle opener and toothpick. I have a Leatherman in my truck (and it's close by all the time) as well as a tool box--they can do more than the SAK did. But, damn, I miss having that toothpick.

Not anymore. :)

Of course a Leatherman and a tool box can do more than a SAK.

This just might be true, now that even Leathermen come with corkscrews! :D

Oh! BTW nowadays my most used tool in SAK is cigarcutter and least used one has gotta be the chisel in the Swisstool, although when I did have that Champ, I never even opened that crummy fishscaler.

A lot of people are saying corkscrew, why not modify it with the screw in mini-screwdriver?

I guess it's about perspective- the more tools get packed into a SAK/multi-tool, the more niche each additional tool becomes.

Looking at the ultimate example here http://www.wengerna.com/giant-knife-16999 - I think the 'Golf Club face cleaner' is probably either the most useless or most specific tool ever....Especially in something weighing in at 2lbs ;)

To be honest, the least used tool on my SAK is usually the blade itself! Since I have other dedicated cutters on me at all times

This is one of the conclusion I have come to. I often carry a modern folder (1 handed operable) and it makes quick, short duration cuts and usage just more reasonable, cutting boxes, banding material, things of the like.
I often use my SAK for the majority of tools aside from the blade.

It's quite simple.

It all depends what kind of situation you find yourself in. So yes, not everyone is going to (have to) make use of all the features. But the options are there. And having options is always better than having no options. Don't you think?

It would be great tho if you could choose which features you wanted and which you don't.

I use the hook for lifting pot lids off my dutch oven when camping, and the corkscrew as a marlinspike, as someone else has mentioned. I'd be quite comfortable with ONLY a SAK for the rest of my life.
