Swiss Army Knives: Evolution Grip Better?

I don't like them, I don't like the way they look nor do I like the shape.
If I wasn't going with Alox and wanted something better than cellidor I'd go with the economy line with the textured nylon scales.
I really don't get why the superior more durable textured nylon scales are considered the economy line.
Maybe it's because the only color options are red or black ( I think there was black ) and because they aren't shiny ?
people go crazy for flashy shiny things, and I guess not being shiny makes the nylon scales seem cheaper ?
nylon scales, sound enticing to me

Got an evo 23.
Don’t like the fact that the scales are not flash.
Slightly wider than the aluminum layer separators.
Makes no sense and its slightly annoying in certain grips when I can feel it.

So are the handles better?
Some claim they prefer the contoured handle shape and textured grips better. I bought one back when Wenger was still making them. Didn’t impress me as being any better than the regular Vic scales for my EDC. I didn’t carry it long before switching back to Vic, with which I’ve never had a problem.

As already stated, if the scales on yours were glued on and fell off, surely they had been previously installed after it left the factory. With that being said, I would wait until I get there, put a knife in my hand, check out the functions and feel. Then I'd snag a souvenier to carry while there and slip into my checked bag on the return trip. Note what has already been said about the lock on the S18. Yes, it's a novel and cool feature, but who actually needs a lock on an 85mm knife? Just my personal opinion of course, and yes, I do have a couple of locking 85mm SAK's, just for the novelty of the feature. It really is an engineering marvel, as is the whole Swiss Army Knife concept, come to think of it. I wish you well with your choice whatever you decide. Heck, it's a knife and it's not made in that place that floods our market with knife-like apparatuses these days, you can't go wrong.

Ref Evolution 23: Hmm... I'm considering one right now. How do you like the magnifying glass on that unit?

I have an Evo Grip S18. I personally prefer the non locking EG 17 for two features:
1) the lock release on the S18 partially blocks the nail nick for the scissors.
2) I prefer the multi purpose corkscrew over the #2 phillips screwdriver on the S18.

To be honest, I prefer the Huntsman over both the S18 and EG 17.
Reason: The Huntsman has a pen blade. I have little to no use for the fingernail file on the other two

Either handle feels good in hand, and provide a good grip.
Ref: 1)... I too found the lock release on the S18 (no matter how innovative) to be a bit obtrusive.
Ref: 2)... I'm a corkscrew guy myself, and I don't even like wine. I've just found it has more uses (for me) in the wild.
Presently carrying a cellidor Huntsman in a red Vic pouch on my hip (Redbone Buck 303 Cadet still in my pocket of course), and agreeing with you on the small blade, but finding the 91mm a handful. That 85mm 18 and S18 just feel right in my smaller hand. I like the EvoGrip, and love the yellow/black color combination. As soon as I find a 17 at the right price, I'm looking at a scale swap with the extra 18 I have.
