Switch or Motor Problems?

it sounds like the switch is on it's way out the door. can you buy the switch?? if so then I would buy it. up plug the motor and replace the switch to see if your problems are solved.

if it was up to me that is what I would do. I think if it is the motor then what is the cost of a new motor ver a new grinder??

Loose wires. Loose wires can happen over time as the connections heat and cool from the power on the line.

The switch looks to be "momentary contact", it closes as long as you hold it in, at least that is how most start stop button stations work. The elctrical circuit may then energize the motor contactor and the overload contacts will hold the motor on so long as the overload is not tripped. If this is the manner it starts, then the motor stopping as soon as you release it sounds too fast for it to be an overload tripping.

My guess.
