Maine's LD 264, "An Act To Restore the Right To Possess Certain Knives That Are Used by Many Citizens as Tools," repealing the state's ban on switchblade (automatic) knives is now in effect. Maine is the ninth state to allow switchblades since Knife Rights started it Sharper Future™ campaign six years ago.

Automatic knives are now legal for civilians without restriction in 28 states, and legal with various restrictions in 10 more. Nine of those 28 states have been added by Knife Rights since 2010. Knife Rights passed the nation's first repeal of a automatic knife ban in 2010 in New Hampshire and has since passed repeal of automatic knife bans (and repealed other knife restrictions) in Alaska, Indiana, Kansas, Maine, Missouri, Nevada, Tennessee and Texas. In Oklahoma, this year Knife Rights' legalized concealed carry of an switchblade (automatic) knife which goes into effect November 1st.

I've been counting down the days! :D I don't really care for autos, but having the option is nice and it also keeps folks from having to explain to LEOs how assisted knives aren't autos.

My thoughts exactly, I don't have any real need for an automatic, but I always took my torsion bars out to avoid that conversation all together.

They are nice for cold weather since they're easier to operate with gloves on compared to a standard folder. Good "Parka Pocket Pals™" ya' know? :D

Congrats!

Please come to Canada.

Basically only Bali's & Auto's aren't legal here for folders; there's no reason why they shouldn't be allowed... It does not make sense in the slightest.

Heck Yeah!! I have been waiting my whole life for this! :) You can know carry a concealed weapon with no permit and switchblades are legal. I happy day for 2nd amendment supporters in this state! Big shout out to kniferights.org for pushing this issue and huge thanks to Maine politicians for passing this with a landslide win.

It's a pretty good day all around for the laws that they passed. You really took that whole "read more, post less" deal to heart huh? :)

Thanks to your and the organization's tireless efforts, I'll be able to carry my autos publicly in just two weeks! Oklahoma is regressive in a lot of ways, but it was refreshing to see that they're okay with people having autos again.

Funnily enough, my other two carry knives are waved, and open faster than an auto. Here's yet another chance for me to show off my ridiculous carry rotation, 2/4 is currently illegal to carry because they're autos, but the wave-opening 5.5" Espada is totally fine:

Good news for all Americans, not just those in Maine. We need to see all similar laws disappear in all 50 states. Keep up the good work, Doug.:cool:
