My new Switchplier just arrived and contrary to the instruction pamplet and the reviews here in this forum -- mine did not come with the socket adapter.

Mine has:
Knife blade
Can opener
Philips screwdriver
Nylon spacer
Bottle Opener
File
in that order.

The nylon spacer really has me confused.
Is there a tool missing?

The philips screwdriver looks like it might even belong to a different tool.
It's the only tool with 2 indents in it so that it can be locked at both 90 and 180 degrees but if you do lock it at 90 degrees then the handle can't be closed. Very awkward since it automatically locks at 90 degrees when extracting it.
The philips screwdriver is also the only tool that can't be accessed without opening the pliers.

Lastly, the sheath seems backwards.
The unit only fits in the sheath with the pliers end out so when you go to grab it you are grabbing the working end.
Why design a switchblade style tool that can't be opened without first turning it around in your hand?

I'm not familiar with the SwitchPlier, but I can tell you that SOG has been known to manufacture multi-tools with spacers like that before. My PowerPlier came with a spacer. You can buy additional tools from SOG to customize the tools as you see fit.

Hi GJW,

SOG often tweaks the component configuration of our various tools in light of comments we've received and ways we can enhance the tool.

After first producing the tool and printing all the associated manuals and paperwork, we had enough requests for the Phillips screwdriver, we chose to make the switch. We swapped out the 1/4" Drive (a component that takes up two spots) with the Phillips (which only takes up one spot) and added a spacer. We'll change associated material at the next available printing opportunity.

Since we make all our tool components available for the consumer to customize the tool, he/she is able to add or change anything they would like.

I hope this helps out.
