Maybe a little off the usual topic, but due to a motorcycle accident, I'm in need of a good cane. I'd like to have a sword cane...both for self-defense, and maybe as an heirloom to pass on later.

Are there any recommendations for me out there?

Sounds like a fun project, but check your state and local laws.
Can't carry legally in many places.

While there are a number of folks who make fine sword canes, Bill Johnson does gorgeous work.
He is a Voting Member of the Knifemakers' Guild and a gentleman to do business with.

Chances are it is illegal to posses outside of your home... not sure what the gun laws in your state are, but if SC has legal carry laws, you are probably better off buying a nice compact revolver for that purpose... just my two cents...

I would think that a sword cane would never attract any attention unless you showed it off to the wrong people or needed it for your defense. I also believe that if the supreme court can knock down a ban on handguns, that a ban on swords would be pretty hard to defend if pressed. I plan to get a concealed weapons permit and suggest others to do so, even if you do not plan to carry a weapon, the option is a good thing to have. I would much rather have a weapon I never needed, than need a weapon and not have it. I believe the right to bear arms means exactly that and the forefathers did believe in swords. There may be some debate on machine guns, but many of the signers probably had a sword. Jim

Thanks guys.

The concealed weapon issue has me concerned, but in actuallity, I'd never pull the blade in public unless I had too...same situation as with a handgun. (which I have had to pull once before). Otherwise, it would just mean a little peace of mind...and more stable footing.

I found some beautiful ones here, but they're a little out of my price range...unless you guys would like to donate to the fund..:)

I particularly like the Mark II with the impala horn handle.
