What with the chromed thin blade, metal tube scabbard, and Islamic crescent and star, my guess is some form of Middle Eastern military dress sword thematically based on a shamshir. Don't have a clue beyond that though. :o

This is an American fraternal sword for The Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine. Other wise known as the Shriners. They are a group that grew out of the Freemasons society. Several companies distributed these. My hunch for the start of this form and origin is later than the beginning of that group and close to about 1900 for a rough date although they persist through the Lilley/Ames period. Other main distributors were the Horstmann Bros., E.A. Armstrong, etc. All of these are generally assumed to have been German manufacture, hence the nickle plated blades.

There is a lot of general information on the net for both the swords and societies.

Cheers

Oh, also to clarify. It is a phoenix, not an eagle. (someone can slap me and determine I am wrong)
