This is an American fraternal sword for The Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine. Other wise known as the Shriners. They are a group that grew out of the Freemasons society. Several companies distributed these. My hunch for the start of this form and origin is later than the beginning of that group and close to about 1900 for a rough date although they persist through the Lilley/Ames period. Other main distributors were the Horstmann Bros., E.A. Armstrong, etc. All of these are generally assumed to have been German manufacture, hence the nickle plated blades.
