i would choose symmetrical for all applications if i could choose only one or have only one knife.
mostly for ease of sharpening with all sharpening tools.

if you were using an axe to chop firewood would you have it asymmetrical? i wouldn't.

what do you think??

It bothers me just to look at the assymetrical edge. I can see no logical reason for an edge like that.

I like the zero edge the best.

It's easy to keep a sharp edge with frequent stropping, heavier sharpenning works well with just sandpaper on a mouse pad.

But best of all, when done right, IT LOOKS SOOO COOL  :D

hmmmmmmm. . . .one vote for asymmetrical. . . .I'm starting to feel a bit alone on this idea! ;)

I have both. I guess I favor symmetrical out of convention; however, once I threw convention to the wind and actually followed the sharpening directions for the assymetrical edge, I had no problems with it and found it to be very easy to maintain in the field.
INFI is strange stuff. It does what Jerry says it will, even if you don't want to believe it, i.e. ceramic rods really will restore the edge quickly, the trick is to not over do it.

Hell, I don't care, as long as its INFI.

Assym., unless it's one of the naked Busses.

Then I'd want mine slightly convexed yet even like on both sides:cool:

Thanks to whoever it was who voted for Asymmetrical!

Might have bad news for you though.

Jerry

symmetrical is what the cavemen have been trying to achieve for a couple thousand years now... and i can sharpen it without looking crosseyed:confused:

Asymmetrical.

It took some adjusting, but I like it. It works.

Over a long period of time, with lots of use, I wonder what happens...does it become symmetrical? :p :p

When Jerry says he might have "bad news" for the asymmetrical crowd though...

everything becomes symmetrical with time... even the rocky mountains are becoming symmetrical... i like things to be even.. thats why i buy infi, to get even with chuck... the democrats are even becoming symmetrical..

speaking of even, i wonder when progunners fba is going to get here?

man o man! i bet my ad is so sharp cause it is even:) jerry should have put a warning on all the ad's shipped:eek:

Symmetric because it looks better and I am one who endeavord to keep his blades clean and ... because it seems like we're beating up on Jerry and might be getting to him. This fees great.:D

With that said, I have enjoyed great service out of the assymetrical grinds and following the instructions provided with the knives. Nrmally I only follow instructions after all else fails - and not a moment sooner. Be that as it may, the assymetrical edges work for me.

Nimmy,

I'm glad to hear you say this. . . .You will now have the ONLY Active Duty with an asymmetrical edge. . . . zero edges be damned!

It shall forever known as the "Orphaned Nimrod Edition Active Duty" . . or in acronymic terminology, "ONE A.D."

;)

I'm runnin' convex on one of my SHBM'S. Converted it over on a slack 1x32 belt grinder................real fast!!:D

One vote symmetric for softer wood/vegetation. One vote convex for harder wood.;)

way to go nimrod! you will have the only ad that will be a bitch to sharpen:cool:

My vote goes to symmetrical. Main reason being; I like symmetry.

I've noticed a slight twist in my wrist ;) when chopping, due to the Assym edge (let's keep in mind, I'm not that big a guy 5'11'' 160lbs). Also if something were to happen to my right hand and/or arm the blade won't handle as well in my left when doing certain tasks.

On the positve side....the Asymm edge is about as durable as can be, and sharpens quick & easy (I actually find an asymm edge to be the easiest to sharpen). So it's a no brainer why Jerry uses it or used to   .

I luv all Busse knives but my vote definately goes to symmetrical.I have noticed some resistence when pushing through certain things with the assym edge.I wish Jerry offered an option for either.
